The Giants recalled Seymour from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Seymour joined the Giants' system back in 2022 via trade, and after working his way through the organization, Seymour will join San Francisco's active roster for the first time in his career. He worked exclusively as a starter at Triple-A, logging a 3.89 ERA and an 83:37 K:BB over 74 innings. While the Giants aren't in need of another starting pitcher, Seymour could replace Hayden Birdsong at the back end of the rotation if Birdsong's struggles persist.

Betts went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI in a 3-1 win against Colorado on Thursday.

Betts knocked in the Dodgers' first run on an infield single in the third inning, and he later scored a run following a leadoff double in the sixth. It's been a grind for the outfielder-turned-shortstop this season, as his .727 OPS is on pace for easily the lowest mark of his career. Betts does have at least one hit in five of his past six games, however, and he's demonstrated excellent plate discipline throughout the campaign with a 35:32 BB:K, so there's reason to believe that he can turn things around at the dish.

The Giants optioned Hjelle to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Hjelle was called up in early June to serve out of the bullpen and accumulated a 4.09 ERA and a 7:7 K:BB before yielding four runs in one inning Thursday against Miami. He'll cede his spot on the active roster to Carson Seymour.

The Mets will recall Tidwell from Triple-A Syracuse prior to Friday's game in Pittsburgh, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.

He would appear set to fill the 26-man roster spot vacated by Griffin Canning, who is likely in line for an extended absence after suffering an Achilles injury in Thursday's win over Atlanta. Tidwell will be available out of the bullpen for now, but he is an option to fill Canning's rotation spot, at least until Sean Manaea (oblique/elbow) is ready.

Lee went 1-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in Thursday's 12-5 loss to the Marlins.

Amid a rough stretch at the plate, Lee recorded his first extra-base hit since June 15, lining a triple into center field during the fourth inning before coming around to score. The 26-year-old outfielder has tallied four hits over his last 10 games, slashing .114/.262/.229 with four runs scored, two RBI, two triples and a 6:3 BB:K across 42 plate appearances.

Wisely went 2-for-4 with a two-RBI double in Thursday's 12-5 loss to the Marlins.

Wisely appeared in just his second game since being called back up June 20 and recorded his first two hits of the season. He hit a two-RBI double in the fourth inning to tie the game at 5-5 and added a single in the sixth. He's slashing .143/.143/.214 with four RBI and a run scored across 16 big-league plate appearances.

The Mets will option Young to Triple-A Syracuse prior to Friday's game in Pittsburgh, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.

The left-handed-hitting Young hadn't started any of the last three games versus right-handed pitching, indicating a demotion might be coming. He's being sent down to make room on the roster for the return of Mark Vientos (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list.

Del Castillo (back) has been sent to the rookie-level Arizona Complex League Diamondbacks to begin a rehab assignment, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Del Castillo landed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Reno a week ago with a lower-back injury. He had previously missed time with a right shoulder injury and only recently was allowed to resume defensive duties. If Del Castillo can bounce back quickly from the back issue and catch without any restrictions, he could get another look for a Diamondbacks club that's missing Gabriel Moreno (hand).

Stephens might be called up to replace Didier Fuentes in the big-league rotation, David O'Brien of the Athletic reports.

Fuentes has coughed up 10 runs in 8.1 inning over his first two starts for Atlanta with a 4:1 K:BB, and while the organization still believes in his future, the 20-year-old doesn't appear ready for the majors. Stephens has spent most of the year in the bullpen for Triple-A Gwinnett, but in two starts since being shifted to the rotation June 20, he's tossed nine scoreless frames with a 12:3 K:BB. The veteran righty has made appearances for Atlanta in each of the last three season, posting a 3.52 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 60:29 K:BB in 69 innings while working primarily in relief.

The Diamondbacks signed Mengden to a minor-league contract Thursday.

After spending the 2024 season in the Chinese Professional Baseball League, Mengden had been pitching this season in the Mexican League. The 32-year-old has not seen any action at the major-league level since 2022 and is merely organizational depth for Arizona.
