Naylor (shoulder) was scratched from the Diamondbacks' lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox.

Naylor had initially been expected to start one day after exiting Monday's contest when he tweaked his right shoulder on a swing. It does not seem as though he's suffered a setback, but rather the Diamondbacks just want to play it safe and give him a little more rest. Pavin Smith will play first base Tuesday, and Randal Grichuk will enter the lineup at designated hitter.

The Cubs activated Hodge (hip) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Hodge initially went on the IL in late May with an oblique strain, but more recently it was a left hip impingement giving him trouble. However, Hodge has been cleared to return after making four rehab appearances with Triple-A Iowa. He allowed eight runs (seven earned) with a 3:4 K:BB over three innings in those rehab outings, so the Cubs could ease Hodge back into high-leverage situations.

The Cubs optioned Brown to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.

The Cubs were going to need to clear a spot in the rotation for Shota Imanaga's (hamstring) return later this week, and Brown sealed his fate when he got rocked for eight runs over five innings in Monday's start versus the Cardinals. The righty has offered occasional flashes of brilliance, but they've come with rough patches as well, and Brown will carry a 6.13 ERA back to Iowa.

The Cardinals optioned Munoz to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Munoz's latest stint in the big leagues lasted only one day, and he tossed a scoreless frame in Monday's win over the Cubs. He's moving off the roster to make space for Michael McGreevy, who was recalled from Memphis to start Tuesday's contest against the Cubs.

The Cardinals recalled McGreevy from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

McGreevy is set to start Tuesday's game against the rival Cubs. The rookie right-hander has excelled in spot duty for the Cardinals, collecting a 2.70 ERA and 15:2 K:BB over 16.2 frames. It's a spot start for McGreevy, who is likely to be sent back to Memphis after the outing.

The Cardinals claimed Hampson off waivers from the Reds on Tuesday.

The utility player will offer protection all over the field for the Cardinals but is unlikely to play much. Hampson, 30, is a career .238/.301/.357 hitter over parts of eight major-league seasons.

The Cardinals designated Barrero for assignment Tuesday.

Barrero played sparingly after being added to the roster in late April and slashed just .138/.194/.276 in 26 contests. The transaction clears a spot on the 26-man and 40-man rosters for the addition of waiver claim Garrett Hampson.

Winker (oblique) is on track to begin a minor-league rehab assignment by this weekend, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The Mets shifted Winker from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL earlier Tuesday, but he's nearly ready to play in games and will initially serve as a designated hitter during his rehab assignment. He is eligible for activation July 4 and should be ready to go at that time, barring any setbacks. Once reinstated, Winker could settle back into a strong-side platoon role for the Mets.

Manaea (oblique) will be shut down for 2-to-3 days after being given a cortisone shot to combat a loose body in his left elbow, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

After missing the first part of the season with a strained oblique, Manaea had appeared set to rejoin the Mets' rotation perhaps after just one more rehab start. The new injury puts Manaea's situation somewhat in flux, although president of baseball operations David Stearns indicated Tuesday that the elbow issue shouldn't set Manaea back more than a few days. The goal is for the southpaw to make another rehab start by the middle of next week before being re-evaluated.

Ballesteros is slashing .336/.396/.504 with eight home runs across 62 games for Triple-A Iowa.

Ballesteros is tied for the International League lead in hits with 81 as he continues to knock on the door of the majors. The 21-year-old made his MLB debut back in May, appearing in five games for the Cubs while Ian Happ was on the injured list. Ballesteros could get the call the next time Chicago needs someone to fill in temporarily, but he may force his way into an even bigger role based on his performance in the minors. Ballesteros remains an intriguing prospect with plenty of fantasy potential, particularly if he sticks behind the plate long-term.
