  • Javier Sanoja 3B | MIA

Marlins' Javier Sanoja: Launches fifth homer Sunday

Sanoja went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Reds.

Sanoja capped Miami's late offensive explosion by taking Ron Marinaccio deep for a three-run homer, putting the finishing touches on the blowout victory. The blast was his fifth of the season and continued a productive August for the infielder. Sanoja is batting .302 with a .883 OPS and 10 RBI across 14 games this month.

  • Marlins' Heriberto Hernandez: Blasts 18th home run

Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, a hit-by-pitch and an additional run scored in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Reds.

Hernandez finally broke the scoreless tie in the eighth inning, taking Tejay Antone deep for a solo homer that helped spark Miami's late offensive outburst. The blast was his second in his last four games. Hernandez has struggled to make consistent contact in August, batting .205 across 12 games while striking out in a third of his plate appearances. Through 93 games this season, he's slashing .231/.308/.459 with 18 homers, 13 doubles, one triple, 50 RBI, 35 runs and eight stolen bases.

  • Nick Lodolo SP | CIN

Reds' Nick Lodolo: Delivers five scoreless innings

Lodolo did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Marlins, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out two over five scoreless innings.

Lodolo matched up well with Eury Perez, who delivered six scoreless frames of his own for Miami, but Cincinnati's bullpen was shelled in the late innings to spoil his effort. The left-hander tossed just 73 pitches in his second start since returning from the injured list. It was a major upgrade from his return start, where he served up three home runs against the White Sox. Lodolo owns a 4.52 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 57:29 K:BB across 71.2 innings this season. He's tentatively scheduled to make his next start Friday against Arizona.

  • Eury Perez SP | MIA

Marlins' Eury Perez: Tosses six scoreless innings

Perez did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Reds, allowing two hits and five walks while striking out five over six scoreless innings.

Perez threw 63 of his 100 pitches for strikes and generated 16 whiffs despite issuing five walks. The right-hander has now worked 13 consecutive scoreless innings spanning his last two starts and has completed at least six frames in seven of his last eight outings. After struggling to a 5.33 ERA across his first 10 starts of the season, Perez has completely reversed course with a 1.66 ERA over his last 12 outings. He'll look to continue his impressive turnaround in his next scheduled start against the Nationals.

  • Jake Bauers 1B | MIL

Brewers' Jake Bauers: Logs four hits in win

Bauers went 4-for-4 with a double, two RBI, a run scored and a walk in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Dodgers.

Bauers reached base in all five of his plate appearances, producing a season-high four hits as part of a winning effort. The first baseman has stayed hot in August, slashing .318/.456/.500 with two homers, seven RBI, six runs and a stolen base through 13 games this month. Overall, the 30-year-old is enjoying a career year, posting a .275/.384/.500 slash line with 21 homers, 70 RBI, 71 runs and nine stolen bases across 112 tilts.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Active in Sunday's win

Chourio went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three runs scored in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Dodgers.

Chourio was a key offensive contributor, picking up a trio of hits and coming around to score each time. Through 16 games in August, the 22-year-old is hitting .288/.391/.542 with four homers, seven RBI, 10 runs and a stolen base. Overall, he's slashing .275/.338/.471 with 17 homers, 49 RBI, 62 runs and 11 stolen bases across 91 contests.

  • Tarik Skubal SP | LAD

Dodgers' Tarik Skubal: Handed seventh loss

Skubal (7-7) took the loss Sunday, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks over six innings in a 6-2 loss against the Brewers. He struck out seven.

Skubal allowed more traffic on the bases than usual, but he still generated 18 whiffs and seven strikeouts while throwing 77 of 109 pitches for strikes. Through three starts with the Dodgers, the southpaw has posted a 3.18 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB across 17 innings. Overall, Skubal owns a 2.85 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 135:20 K:BB across 113.2 innings (19 outings) and is tentatively scheduled to next pitch Saturday against the Pirates.

  • Brewers' Logan Henderson: Logs seven innings in seventh win

Henderson (7-2) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over seven innings against the Dodgers. He struck out six.

Henderson handled the Dodgers offense with relative ease, as Max Muncy's solo homer in the fourth inning was the only blemish on his line. Sunday marked the first time in the 24-year-old's career that he completed seven innings. The young hurler has pitched to a 2.79 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 21:3 K:BB across 19.1 innings through three starts in August. Overall, Henderson owns a 2.70 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 75:12 K:BB in 63.1 innings (12 starts) and is tentatively scheduled to start Sunday against Atlanta.

  • Brock Stewart RP | LAD

Dodgers' Brock Stewart: Faces hitters Thursday

Stewart (shoulder) threw a simulated inning of live batting practice Thursday, MLB.com reports.

Assuming Stewart checked out fine coming out of Thursday's workout, he could be cleared to report to a minor-league affiliate during the upcoming week to begin a rehab assignment. Before landing on the injured list July 31 due to right shoulder tendinitis, Stewart had logged a 2.45 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB while collecting one save and four holds in 14.2 innings out of the Los Angeles bullpen.

  • Reds' Brandon Williamson: Reaches fourth inning in rehab outing

Williamson (shoulder) struck out two and allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks across 3.2 innings in a rehab appearance Sunday with Triple-A Louisville.

Taking the hill for the fourth start of his rehab assignment, Williamson built up to 63 pitches (47 strikes) and induced seven whiffs while averaging 92.7 mph with his four-seam fastball. The Reds will likely decide on Williamson's next step within the next couple of days, but the left-shoulder shouldn't need more than one more tune-up outing in the minors before returning from the 60-day injured list. With Rhett Lowder performing well over the past month as the Reds' No. 5 starter, Williamson may not have a path to the rotation once he's activated and could have to settle for a long-relief role.
