Palencia worked around a walk to toss a scoreless inning of relief and earn a hold in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Marlins.

After seven strong innings from starter Matthew Boyd, Palencia served as an effective eighth-inning bridge before Ryan Zeferjahn recorded the save. Palencia has now rattled off eight straight appearances without allowing an earned run, and while he's not quite back to regularly closing out games for the Cubs, he does seem to be earning more high leverage work. The righty is now carrying a 3.64 ERA overall and has built some momentum as Chicago heads into the postseason for the second straight year.

Happ went 1-for-3 with a walk, a triple and a run scored in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Marlins.

Happ extended his modest hitting streak to four games with his third triple of the season. The veteran outfielder is batting just .228 this month, though he's sporting a strong .353 on-base percentage, which is above his .330 mark for the season. With the Cubs officially clinching their spot in the playoffs with Thursday's win, Happ may get some time off over the next few days, but he should be a lineup regular once the postseason begins.

Rushing (elbow) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Rushing will make his return to the major-league roster after missing nearly three weeks while nursing right elbow discomfort. The 25-year-old will provide the team with a boost off the bench as the primary reserve option behind starting catcher Will Smith.

Gordon (1-6) took the loss Thursday against the Diamondbacks, allowing 10 runs on 12 hits and four walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out one.

It was a brutal day on the mound for Gordon, with six of the 10 runs charged to the right-hander coming in the first inning. In his last four outings, Gordon's given up 26 earned runs in just 16 frames. He'll finish the year with a 6.68 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 85:24 K:BB over 103.2 innings.

Arenado went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and an additional RBI in Thursday's 12-8 win over the Rockies.

Arenado extended Arizona's lead to 6-0 with his two-run shot in the first inning, his 29th homer of the year, the most he's hit in a season since 2022. The veteran third baseman has been on fire down the stretch -- Arenado's now gone 22-for-49 (.449) with seven homers in his last 13 games. He's boosted his slash line to .254/.326/.469 across 586 plate appearances this year with 83 RBI and 77 runs scored.

Atlanta recalled Waldrep (elbow) from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday and placed him on the 60-day injured list.

Waldrep will join the big-league 60-day IL to free up space on the 40-man roster for Elieser Hernandez, who was selected to the 28-man roster Thursday. Waldrep is slated to miss the entire 2027 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.

Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases and a strikeout during Thursday's 2-1 win over the Marlins.

Ramirez stole two bases during Thursday's win, his first bags swiped since Aug. 12 against the Nationals. The 22-year-old has recorded at least one base hit in five of his last six games. This year, Ramirez is slashing .261/.319/.406 with six homers, 32 RBI, nine stolen bases and 20 walks over 258 plate appearances.

Carrigg went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer in Thursday's 12-8 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Carrigg made things interesting in the seventh inning Thursday with a three-run, 404-foot blast off Dennis Santana, his 11th homer this season, that cut Colorado's deficit to 12-6. Carrigg's been hot down the stretch, going 17-for-43 (.395) with four long balls in his last 10 games. Overall, the 24-year-old rookie is slashing .276/.340/.469 with 51 RBI, 47 runs scored and 11 steals across 361 plate appearances this year.

Atlanta selected Hernandez's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.

With Martin Perez (back) headed to the injured list, Hernandez will rejoin Atlanta's bullpen to fill the open roster spot. The 31-year-old has allowed just three earned runs in 11 innings with the big club this year but owns a 4.64 ERA and 1.43 WHIP across 85.1 innings in the minors. Hurston Waldrep (elbow) was placed on the 60-day IL to clear space on the 40-man roster.

Suzuki went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and a strikeout during Thursday's 2-1 win over the Marlins.

Suzuki extended his hitting streak to six games after recording two base hits Thursday. The 32-year-old stepped to the plate in the fifth inning and launched his 26th homer of the campaign off Jack Ralston to tie the game. Suzuki is now slashing .270/.366/.476 with 26 homers, 86 RBI and 79 walks in 625 plate appearances this season.
