  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Plays hero Friday

Stephenson went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 5-3 win over the Rangers.

Stephenson broke a 3-3 tie in the ninth inning with a two-run shot off Chris Martin that proved to be the game-winning homer. After opening the season 0-for-9, the 29-year-old has recorded hits in back-to-back games. While he's sat out two of the Reds' first seven contests, Stephenson went deep 13 times in 342 regular-season plate appearances last season and has posted a double-digit homer total in four of five years, with the outlier coming during an injury-riddled 2022 campaign.

  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Goes deep in win

Steer went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 5-3 win over the Rangers.

Steer opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the second inning before adding a double in the ninth. It was a much-needed effort for the 28-year-old, who entered Friday just 1-for-17 through five games. While he dropped from 25 steals in 2024 to seven last season, Steer has tallied 20-plus homers in each of his three full campaigns and should see consistent playing time between the outfield and first base.

  • Juan Soto LF | NYM

Mets' Juan Soto: Exits with calf tightness

Soto was removed from Friday's game against the Giants in the first inning due to right calf tightness.

After reaching base on a single, Soto appeared to tweak his calf while running from first base to third on Bo Bichette's RBI single. The severity of his injury remains unknown, but the Mets will presumably bring their star outfielder in for imaging and provide more details in the near future. Tyrone Taylor took Soto's place in left field Friday and could be in line for a few starts in the near future if Soto's injury proves to be serious.

  • Emilio Pagan RP | CIN

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Converts second save

Pagan earned the save in Friday's 5-3 win over the Rangers, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Pagan was called upon to protect a two-run lead in the ninth and did so on just 13 pitches. It marked the 34-year-old's first clean frame of the season and was a much-needed rebound after he allowed four runs in a non-save situation Wednesday. He's now 2-for-3 in save chances while allowing five earned runs through 4.1 innings.

  • Brady Singer SP | CIN

Reds' Brady Singer: Solid effort in no-decision

Singer did not factor into the decision in Friday's 5-3 win over the Rangers, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk with five strikeouts over five innings.

Singer surrendered two runs in the second inning but otherwise kept the Rangers in check despite allowing 12 hard-hit balls. He threw 58 of 87 pitches for strikes while generating just seven whiffs. While he's posted a solid 10:3 K:BB through two starts, the 29-year-old has yielded five earned runs over just nine innings. He lines up for a road matchup against the Marlins next week.

  • Konnor Griffin SS | PIT

Pirates' Konnor Griffin: RBI double in major-league debut

Griffin went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and a walk in Friday's 5-4 win over the Orioles.

Making his much-anticipated major-league debut Friday, Griffin hit seventh in the Pittsburgh lineup and doubled home Ryan O'Hearn in his first big-league plate appearance. In his second trip to the plate, Griffin drew a five-pitch walk. Griffin later struck out and grounded out to close out his day. The shortstop doesn't turn 20 years old until later this month.

  • Gregory Soto RP | PIT

Pirates' Gregory Soto: Picks up first save of season

Soto earned a save in Friday's 5-4 win over the Orioles, allowing one run on one hit with three strikeouts in one inning.

It was Soto's fifth appearance of the young season, but it was the left-hander's first save of 2026 after he pitched clean ninth innings Tuesday and Wednesday against the Reds in 8-3 victories. Soto struck out the side against the Orioles on Friday but did allow a solo home run to Gunnar Henderson with two outs. Soto looks to be manager Don Kelly's preferred closer option, which makes sense given the reliever's sterling 11:2 K:BB across 5.1 innings of work.

  • Mitch Keller SP | PIT

Pirates' Mitch Keller: Picks up win over Baltimore

Keller (1-0) earned the win over the Orioles on Friday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts across six innings.

Keller has logged back-to-back quality starts to open the season and will carry a 1.50 ERA into his next start Wednesday against the Padres. The right-hander has thrown at least 175 innings with at least 150 strikeouts in three straight seasons coming into the 2026 campaign. He's not an exciting fantasy proposition, but Keller is durable and reliable.

  • Gavin Stone SP | LAD

Dodgers' Gavin Stone: Begins throwing program

Stone (shoulder) has resumed throwing, per MLB.com.

Stone was diagnosed with inflammation in his surgically repaired right shoulder during spring training and was shut down from throwing for several weeks. Tests confirmed that there's no structural damage in the shoulder, and the right-hander has since been cleared to begin a throwing program. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday -- the same day Stone was moved to the 60-day IL -- that the hurler is essentially going to need to ramp up as if he's restarting spring.

  • Rockies' Michael Lorenzen: Lit up for nine runs

Lorenzen (0-1) suffered the loss Friday against the Phillies, allowing nine runs on 12 hits and two walks while striking out two in three innings of work.

Things went wrong immediately for Lorenzen, as the first five batters he faced reached base, including two via walk. It escalated from there, and before the inning was over, the Phillies had scored seven times. The 34-year-old made it through two more innings after that, but it's certainly not a start that will go on his highlight reel. He has now allowed 12 runs and three home runs over 7.1 innings of work on the year. His next scheduled chance to bring down his 14.73 ERA will come Wednesday against the Astros.
