  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

Brewers' Andrew Vaughn: Settling in at third base

Vaughn will start at third base and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Vaughn will stick in the starting nine for a fifth straight game and will cover the hot corner for a fourth consecutive contest. After having not previously picked up a start at third base since the 2021 season, Vaughn is now up to six starts at the position this season. He could continue to see semi-regular action at third base so long as Cooper Pratt (hamstring) remains on the shelf, potentially giving Vaughn a chance at carrying eligibility at both corner-infield spots in fantasy leagues heading into 2027.

  • Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Sitting against lefty again

Mitchell is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

The left-handed-hitting Mitchell will be held out of the starting nine for the second straight day while the Brewers oppose another southpaw (Tarik Skubal). Luis Lara will replace Mitchell in center field and will bat second.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Leaves game early Sunday

Swanson was removed from Sunday's game against the Cardinals midway through his first at-bat in the bottom of the third inning due to an apparent injury, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Following his first swing of the afternoon, Swanson immediately felt discomfort and left the game with a trainer by his side. James Triantos came on to pinch hit for Swanson and will likely cover second base for the remainder of the contest while Nico Hoerner shifts over to Swanson's spot in the field at shortstop. The Cubs should provide official word on his injury later in the day.

  • David Hamilton 3B | MIL

Brewers' David Hamilton: Held out against lefty

Hamilton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

The left-handed-hitting Hamilton will be on the bench for a second straight day to close out the series in Los Angeles while the Dodgers send another lefty (Tarik Skubal) to the bump. With Hamilton and Brice Turang (knee) both sitting, the Brewers will open up starts at third base for Andrew Vaughn and second base for Jonathan Ornelas.

  • Giants' Victor Bericoto: On bench for second straight game

Bericoto is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Bericoto will hit the bench for the second straight game while the Giants hand Turner Hill another start in left field. Though he appeared to be in good position to take on a full-time role after being reinstated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Bericoto has gone 2-for-12 with five strikeouts in three games following his return and looks like he'll have to settle for a timeshare in the corner outfield with Hill.

  • Connor Norby 2B | COL

Rockies' Connor Norby: Heading to bench Sunday

Norby is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Though he'll head to the bench Sunday, Norby looks to have emerged as the Rockies' preferred option at second base while Willi Castro has moved over to third base as a replacement for Kyle Karros (concussion). Adael Amador will cover the keystone in the series finale in San Francisco, but Norby occupied the position each of the previous four contests and went 1-for-10 with one double, four walks, one stolen base and one run.

  • TJ Rumfield 1B | COL

Rockies' TJ Rumfield: Receiving Sunday off

Rumfield is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Rumfield had just received a day of rest Tuesday, and the Giants are sending a right-handed (Blade Tidwell) to the mound Sunday, making the left-handed-hitting first baseman's absence from the lineup somewhat curious. The Rockies have yet to indicate that Rumfield is dealing with any sort of injury, so he may just be getting a chance to clear his head after going 3-for-21 over his last six contests. Troy Johnston will replace Rumfield at first base and will bat fifth.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Nolan Arenado: Leaves game early Sunday

Arenado was removed in the bottom of the fourth inning of Sunday's game in Atlanta due to left trunk discomfort. He went 0-for-2 before exiting the contest.

The 35-year-old was coming off one of his best performances of the season after slugging two home runs, driving in four runs and coming around to score a third run in Saturday's 10-3 win, but he was unable to build on that big game before the trunk injury cut his afternoon short. Ildemaro Vargas came off the bench to cover third base, and he and Tim Tawa would likely be the main candidates to fill in at the position if Arenado requires a stint on the injured list. For now, Arenado can be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener in Boston.

  • Kyle Hurt RP | LAD

Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Elevated to active roster

The Dodgers recalled Hurt from Triple-A Oklahoma on Sunday.

Hurt was demoted to Triple-A on Monday, but he'll be eligible to return less than a week later after the Dodgers placed left-hander Justin Wrobleski (forearm) on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. The Dodgers will plug Hurt back into their bullpen, where he's produced a 4.46 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 46:21 K:BB across 38.1 innings on the season.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Earning more opportunities vs. RHPs

Amaya will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Amaya will crack the lineup for the third time in four games, with each of those starts coming against right-handed pitching. He's produced a .720 OPS and 105 wRC+ in 138 plate appearances versus righties this season, putting him well ahead of what fellow backstop Carson Kelly (.594 OPS, 72 wRC+ in 211 plate appearances) has done in that split.
