The Giants claimed Cerantola off waivers from the Royals on Monday.

Cerantola, 26, has allowed six runs with a 7:10 K:BB over 5.1 frames at the big-league level this season. The righty reliever has been much better at the Triple-A level in 2026 with a 2.67 ERA and 43:16 K:BB across 30.1 frames. He'll begin his time in the Giants organization at Triple-A Sacramento.

Susac (back) has started his swing progression and has been throwing on flat ground out to 105 feet, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Susac is also scheduled to begin a running progression later this week as he continues to ramp up his activities. The rookie catcher is working his way back from a lower-back strain and it seems he can be ruled out through the All-Star break. A timeline for Susac's return to the active roster could come to light later this week.

Gage will undergo an MRI on his left elbow Monday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Gage was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left elbow strain, but he'll have imaging to make sure he doesn't have structural damage. The lefty reliever will be re-evaluated by Dr. Ken Akizuki later Monday after the MRI before next steps in his recovery are determined.

Bader (foot) will take batting practice Monday and run the bases Tuesday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

As long as he comes out of those activities with no setbacks, Bader should be able to begin a rehab assignment soon. The veteran outfielder has been sidelined since late May due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

Major League Baseball announced that Cavalli's seven-game suspension has been reduced to five games following an appeal, Spencer Nusbaum of The Athletic reports. The right-hander will begin serving the ban in Monday's series opener versus the Astros.

During his start last Tuesday against the Red Sox, Cavalli made a remark to Boston's Willson Contreras after striking him out, which instigated a benches-clearing brawl between the two clubs. As a result of getting his suspension reduced to five games, Cavalli will lose out on some salary but isn't expected to miss out on any starts. He's now lined up to take the ball Sunday against the Yankees in his final start of the first half.

Smith is not in the lineup for Monday's game in San Diego.

It's right-hander Walker Buehler on the mound for the Padres, but the left-handed-hitting Smith will nonetheless begin the contest on the bench. Smith -- who is slashing an ugly .157/.259/.214 in 25 games this season -- will yield first base to Ildemaro Vargas.

Edman (foot/ankle) remains out of the lineup for Monday's contest against the Rockies.

Edman was scratched from Sunday's lineup versus the Padres due to soreness in his right foot/ankle. It's the same ankle he had surgically repaired over the offseason, but the current injury is unrelated, as Edman is sore as a result of a hit-by-pitch Saturday. Miguel Rojas will fill in at second base for the Dodgers on Monday.

Campusano is not in the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Diamondbacks.

Campusano returned from the injured list Friday and started at catcher each of the previous two days. He'll get a day off for Monday's series opener, with Rodolfo Duran filling in behind the dish.

Bogaerts is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks.

He's receiving a routine day after after starting each of the previous 22 contests. Sung-Mun Song will fill in at shortstop for the Padres in Bogaerts' stead.

The Diamondbacks optioned Del Castillo to Triple-A Reno on Monday.

Del Castillo slugged a home run in his last start Saturday versus the Brewers, but he has posted a weak .555 OPS over 164 plate appearances on the season. With James McCann (quadriceps) returning from the injured list to resume duties as Arizona's backup catcher, Del Castillo will head back to Reno.
