  • Troy Johnston RF | COL

Marlins' Troy Johnston: Lifts fourth homer

Johnston went 2-for-4 with a home run and an additional RBI in Saturday's 4-3 win over Texas.

Johnston blasted his fourth homer of the season, also logging multiple hits for the fourth time this month. The rookie outfielder has made a nice impression since being called up in late July, as he's settled in as Miami's primary right fielder. Through his first 99 at-bats, Johnston is batting .283 with four long balls, 13 RBI, 10 runs scored and two stolen bases.

  • Brewers' William Contreras: X-rays clean

Contreras (hand/wrist) underwent X-rays following Saturday's game against the Cardinals, which came back clean, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Contreras was hit in the wrist and hand area by a swing in the seventh inning and was removed a frame later. He made clear to manager Pat Murphy that he wants to play Sunday, though the Brewers could opt to take a safe approach. Regardless, Contreras appears to have dodged a major injury.

  • Calvin Faucher RP | MIA

Marlins' Calvin Faucher: Hangs on for 15th save

Faucher earned the save Saturday against Texas, allowing one run on two hits and one walk in the ninth inning.

It wasn't easy for Faucher, who stranded the possible tying and go-ahead runs by getting Joc Pederson to pop up to end the game. The right-hander has a career-high 15 saves as Miami's primary closer this season, recording a respectable 3.38 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 56:23 K:BB over 58.2 innings. That said, Tyler Phillips and Lake Bachar are also in the ninth-inning mix for the Marlins.

  • Chad Patrick RP | MIL

Brewers' Chad Patrick: Fans three in no-decision

Patrick yielded two runs on five hits and no walks over 4.1 innings with three strikeouts and took a no-decision in Saturday's 3-2 extra-inning victory at St. Louis.

Patrick reentered the Milwaukee rotation because Jose Quintana (calf) recently landed on the injured list. The rookie right-hander was fairly effective during his time on the mound, as he didn't give up any extra-base hits. The two runs Patrick allowed came on RBI singles by Nolan Arenado and Brendan Donovan. The 27-year-old now sports a 3.66 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 119:37 K:BB across 115.2 total innings. Patrick currently projects to make his next start at home against the Reds next weekend.

  • Miles Mikolas SP | WAS

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Concedes two runs in no-decision

Mikolas did not factor into the decision in Saturday's extra-inning loss to Milwaukee. He allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings with three strikeouts.

The St. Louis right-hander continued his recent run of solid form, notching his fifth straight outing with two or fewer runs allowed. Mikolas coughed up his first run in the second on a Joey Ortiz single while the second run on his register scored on an Andrew Vaughn sacrifice fly given up by reliever Kyle Leahy in the sixth. Across 151.1 total frames, Mikolas has pitched to a 4.76 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 96:36 K:BB while conceding 26 long balls. He currently lines up to make his final start of the season against the division-rival Cubs in Chicago next weekend.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Plates game-winning run

Turang went 1-for-5 with one RBI in Saturday's 3-2 extra-inning victory at St. Louis.

Turang knocked home the automatic runner in the 10th with a single to give his club a 3-2 lead. Turang has anchored the division-leading Brewers with a .286 (18-for-63) average, two homers, two steals, 10 runs scored and nine RBI in 17 games this month. Overall, the 25-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic breakout season and is now slashing .286/.356/.436 with 18 homers, 24 stolen bases, 95 runs scored and 77 RBI across 632 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Homers in win

Stephenson went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Cubs.

Stephenson gave the Reds some needed insurance with a two-run homer in the eighth inning. The 29-year-old has gone just 7-for-34 in September but has managed to go deep three times with 12 RBI during that stretch. For the season, he's slashing .224/.310/.409 with 12 home runs, 48 RBI and 38 runs scored across 326 plate appearances.

  • TJ Friedl CF | CIN

Reds' TJ Friedl: Goes deep in win

Friedl went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Cubs.

Friedl singled and scored in the third inning before doubling the Reds' lead with a solo blast in the seventh. It was a welcome showing for the 30-year-old, who had gone just 4-for-33 since his last homer Sept. 8. On the year, he's slashing .259/.362/.373 with 13 homers, 50 RBI, 79 runs scored and 12 steals across 653 plate appearances.

  • Joey Wentz SP | ATL

Braves' Joey Wentz: Fans seven in no-decision

Wentz came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Tigers, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out seven.

The southpaw left the mound after 84 pitches (55 strikes) in line for his sixth win, but the bullpen let the lead slip away before Atlanta's offense rallied late. Wentz's performances have been erratic since joining the rotation, and over his last eight starts he's failed to complete five innings four times, leading to a 5.64 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 37:14 K:BB through 36.2 innings during that span. He's scheduled to take the bump one more time in 2025, at home next weekend against the Pirates.

  • Emilio Pagan RP | CIN

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Earns 29th save

Pagan earned the save in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Cubs, allowing one hit and striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Pagan was called on to protect a three-run lead in the ninth and needed just 13 pitches to secure his second save in as many days. Since blowing a save to open the month Sept. 1, the 34-year-old has converted three straight opportunities while allowing only one earned run over his past eight outings. For the season, he's 29-for-35 in save chances with a 3.06 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 78:21 K:BB across 64.2 innings.
