Manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Steele's (elbow) setback will keep him sidelined until after the All-Star break, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

The Cubs were originally anticipating an early-June return for Steele, but after suffering a setback in his rehab program Tuesday, the 30-year-old southpaw will now have another month-plus added to his time on the IL. A more precise timeline for his return may begin to emerge whenever he is cleared to resume throwing.

Norby isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.

Norby will head to the bench Tuesday after going 1-for-3 with a walk in Monday's series opener. Christopher Morel will pick up a start at first base and bat eighth.

The Marlins recalled Gibson from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.

Gibson has spent the entire season with Jacksonville, where he owns a 2.63 ERA and 0.76 WHIP through 13.2 innings. He'll be summoned to the majors to make up for the loss of Pete Fairbanks (hand), who landed on the injured list in a corresponding move. Gibson put up a 2.63 ERA over 54.2 innings in the big leagues last season but is likely to be used primarily in middle relief while with Miami.

The Marlins placed Fairbanks (hand) on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to nerve irritation.

Fairbanks exited Monday's contest against the Dodgers after losing feeling in his right hand, and he said after the game that it was similar to the nerve issue he dealt with back in April 2024 while he was with the Rays. He was out for about three weeks then, though the Marlins are optimistic that he won't miss more than the minimum 15 days this time around, per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com. In the meantime, Anthony Bender, Andrew Nardi, Calvin Faucher and Tyler Phillips will all be options to pick up saves for the Marlins, and Cade Gibson will come up from Triple-A Jacksonville to round out the bullpen.

The Dodgers transferred Knack (chest) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Knack has been on the injured list since the start of the season due to an intercostal strain, and his move to the 60-day IL will ensure he remains on the shelf until at least late May. His 40-man spot will be given to Tyler Fitzgerald, who was acquired in a trade with Toronto on Tuesday.

The Blue Jays traded Fitzgerald to the Dodgers on Tuesday in exchange for cash.

Fitzgerald was designated for assignment Friday to make room for Willie MacIver, but he'll reclaim a 40-man roster spot upon switching organizations. The 28-year-old will begin his tenure with the Dodgers at Triple-A Oklahoma City, per Sonja Chen of MLB.com.

Bregman is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.

Bregman started the first 29 games of the season for the Cubs, so this will be his first night out of the starting lineup. Matt Shaw is making the start at third base and batting ninth for Chicago. Bregman is 0-for-10 at the plate over the last three contests after hitting safely in 14 of the previous 16 games.

Rengifo is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Rengifo started eight of Milwaukee's past 10 games and started that stretch hot by going 6-for-17, but he's followed that with just one hit in his last 11 at-bats. Joey Ortiz will return to the starting nine at shortstop Tuesday while David Hamilton mans the hot corner.

The Pirates optioned Dotel to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Jason Mackey of MLB.com reports.

Dotel threw 44 pitches in long relief Monday against the Cardinals, so the Pirates are bringing in a fresh arm in Hunter Barco to replace Dotel in the bullpen. Dotel has thrown 6.2 innings for Pittsburgh this season, turning in a 1.35 ERA and 4:3 K:BB. He'll likely be back with the big club at some point.

The Pirates recalled Barco from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Jason Mackey of MLB.com reports.

In a corresponding move, the Pirates optioned Wilber Dotel. Barco made Pittsburgh's Opening Day roster this season and appeared in four games out of the bullpen, registering a 6.43 ERA, 2.14 WHIP and 5:7 K:BB across seven innings before he was sent down two weeks ago.
