Brewers' Sal Frelick: Sitting amid slump
Frelick is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
Frelick will hit the bench for just the third time this season and for the first time against a right-handed starting pitcher (Eury Perez). Luis Matos will check in as the Brewers' starting right fielder in place of Frelick, who is mired in a 3-for-30 slump at the plate over his last eight games.

Joseph Ortiz 2B | MIL
Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Heading to bench Sunday
Ortiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
Ortiz will hit the bench for the second time in the series while Milwaukee clears a spot for Luis Rengifo on the left side of its infield. Though Ortiz offers a reliable glove at shortstop, he's provided a weak .196/.268/.196 slash line to begin the season. The lack of production at the plate looks like it could be starting to cost Ortiz some playing time.

Brewers' William Contreras: Getting rare day off
Contreras is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
Contreras will take a seat for just the third time in the Brewers' first 21 games of the season, clearing the way for Gary Sanchez to start behind the plate and Garrett Mitchell to serve as Milwaukee's designated hitter. Unless he's used off the bench Sunday, Contreras will put a 13-game hitting streak on hold until Tuesday's series opener in Detroit.

Tobias Myers RP | NYM
David Peterson SP | NYM
Mets' Tobias Myers: Will be utilized as opener Sunday
Myers will be deployed as an opener in front of bulk reliever David Peterson in Sunday's game against the Cubs, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.
Though he made 31 starts for the Brewers over the past two seasons and has two three-inning relief appearances under his belt with the Mets during the current campaign, Myers doesn't look like he'll be asked to provide much length while he makes his first start of 2026. Over 13 innings in six appearances so far for his new team, he's posted a 3.46 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 9:1 K:BB.

Mets' David Peterson: Set for bulk role Sunday
Peterson will pitch in bulk relief behind opener Tobias Myers in Sunday's game against the Cubs, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.
Myers made 31 starts for the Brewers over the past two seasons but he's maxed out at three innings and 39 pitches over his six relief appearances for the Mets in 2026. While the right-hander might provide more length than a typical opener, Peterson still appears to be in line to handle the larger share of the workload Sunday. Since tossing 5.1 shutout innings in his first start of the season March 28, Peterson has taken losses in each of his last three outings while posting a 8.79 ERA, 1.95 WHIP and 18:8 K:BB across 14.1 innings.

Jayden Murray SP | HOU
Joey Loperfido OF | HOU
Astros' Jayden Murray: Back in big leagues
The Astros recalled Murray from Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday.
The right-hander was optioned to Sugar Land last week but will rejoin the Astros with Joey Loperfido (quadriceps) landing on the injured list. Murray allowed two runs over two innings with a 3:3 K:BB in his lone appearance for Houston this season

George Valera CF | CLE
Trevor Rogers SP | BAL
Guardians' George Valera: Idle against southpaw
Valera is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Though he'll head to the bench against southpaw Trevor Rogers, Valera had been seeing steady playing time against right-handed pitching since being activated from the injured list Monday. He started four of the Guardians' previous five contests, going 4-for-14 with two doubles and two RBI.

Framber Valdez SP | DET
Tigers' Framber Valdez: Game start time pushed back
Valdez's scheduled start Sunday against the Red Sox has been pushed back three hours due to expected rain in Boston, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
An extended period of rain is forecasted for Boston from midday into the afternoon, prompting the game to be moved back from its scheduled start time of 1:35 p.m. ET to 4:35 p.m. ET. Valdez will square off against Red Sox lefty Garrett Crochet.
-
Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: On bench against lefty
Manzardo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
The left-handed hitter had been in the lineup five straight games while the Guardians faced right-handed starting pitchers, but he'll take a seat Sunday against southpaw Trevor Rogers. Rhys Hoskins will fill in for Manzardo at first base and bat cleanup.

Garrett Crochet RP | BOS
Red Sox's Garrett Crochet: Time change for scheduled start
Crochet's scheduled start Sunday against the Tigers has been pushed back three hours to 4:35 p.m. ET due to expected rain in Boston, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Crochet is looking to rebound from a disastrous outing Monday, when he yielded 11 runs (10 earned) on nine hits and three walks over 1.2 innings in a loss to the Twins. Framber Valdez is scheduled to start for Detroit.
