Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH
Athletics' Jeff McNeil: Resting against lefty
McNeil is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
McNeil and fellow left-handed hitters Lawrence Butler and Carlos Cortes will hit the bench for the series finale while southpaw Noah Schultz takes the hill for the White Sox. Andy Ibanez will fill in at second base in place of McNeil, who had started in each of the last nine games while slashing .273/.342/.394 with four doubles, two RBI and two runs.

Everson Pereira LF | CHW
White Sox's Everson Pereira: Making case for everyday role
Pereira will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Athletics.
Pereira pushed his OPS on the season up to .969 after doubling twice and drawing a walk Saturday. The 25-year-old has now started five of six games since being activated from the injured list Tuesday.

Tristan Peters LF | CHW
White Sox's Tristan Peters: On bench for second time in series
Peters is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
The left-handed hitter's absence isn't surprising against southpaw Jeffrey Springs, but Peters also hit the bench for a matchup against righty Aaron Civale on Friday. Peters and his underwhelming .209/.277/.233 slash line through 47 plate appearances might have to settle for a part-time role in the Chicago outfield with Everson Pereira (.969 OPS in 36 plate appearances) handily outproducing him.

Andrew Benintendi LF | CHW
Jeffrey Springs SP | ATH
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Idle for series finale
Benintendi is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
Benintendi hasn't reached base in any of his nine plate appearances against left-handed pitchers this season, so the White Sox will hold him out of the lineup for the series finale while southpaw Jeffrey Springs takes the hill for the Athletics. After slotting anywhere between third and seventh in the batting order during his first 11 starts of the season, Benintendi has moved into the leadoff spot for his most recent three starts against right-handed pitchers.

Kevin McGonigle SS | DET
Tigers' Kevin McGonigle: Receiving Sunday off
McGonigle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
The 21-year-old rookie will hit the bench Sunday for just the second time this season. McGonigle started the previous eight games and posted a 1.057 OPS with three extra-base hits, eight runs and seven walks during that stretch. Javier Baez is starting at shortstop while Matt Vierling picks up a start in center field.
-
Sam Antonacci SS | CHW
White Sox's Sam Antonacci: Taking seat versus southpaw
Antonacci is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
Antonacci will join fellow left-handed hitters Andrew Benintendi, Tristan Peters and Reese McGuire on the bench while southpaw Jeffrey Springs toes the rubber for the A's. After being called up from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, Antonacci has started four straight games, going 1-for-15 with two walks, a stolen base and a run.
-
Jarren Duran CF | BOS
Red Sox's Jarren Duran: On bench for second straight
Duran is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
Duran started the previous seven games before taking a seat for Saturday's contest, and he'll sit again Sunday while in the midst of a 5-for-34 slump. Lefty Framber Valdez is starting for Detroit, and Duran hasn't started against a southpaw since Opening Day. Roman Anthony is manning left field Sunday while Willson Contreras rests his legs as the designated hitter.

Brenton Doyle CF | COL
Jake McCarthy RF | COL
Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Taking seat Sunday
Doyle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
Doyle will receive a breather after going 2-for-9 with a walk, two stolen bases and a run scored while starting in the Rockies' past three games. Jake McCarthy will cover center field in Doyle's stead Sunday.

Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL
Willi Castro LF | COL
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Resting up Sunday
Tovar is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
Tovar will hit the bench for only the second time in the Rockies' first 22 games. Willi Castro (hand) will return to the starting nine following a three-game absence, filling in for Tovar at shortstop.

Willi Castro LF | COL
Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL
Rockies' Willi Castro: Back in lineup at shortstop
Castro (hand) will start at shortstop and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
Castro will re-enter the starting nine for the first time since Wednesday, after a right hand contusion had limited him to a bench role over the Rockies' previous three contests. The Rockies have deployed Castro primarily at second base this season, but he'll cover shortstop Sunday while Ezequiel Tovar receives the afternoon off.
