  • Christian Roa SP | MIN

Astros' Christian Roa: Booted off 40-man roster

The Astros designated Roa for assignment Tuesday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Daniel Johnson. Roa holds a 5.19 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and 6:7 K:BB across 8.2 innings at the major-league level this season and has a good chance of passing through waivers.

  • Daniel Johnson CF | HOU

    Astros' Daniel Johnson: Contract selected

The Astros selected Johnson's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday.

Johnson was signed to a minor-league deal Sunday and will be added to the big-league roster after just one game with Sugar Land. The 30-year-old outfielder is a career .196/.243/.322 hitter over parts of four big-league seasons. Johnson could see a bit of playing time as the Astros navigate multiple injuries in their outfield.

  • Astros' Taylor Trammell: Shelved by groin strain

The Astros placed Trammell on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left groin strain.

Trammell was hurt in Monday's game versus the Guardians while running the bases. The Astros haven't revealed the grade of the strain, but it's bad enough to keep Trammell sidelined at least for the next 10 days. With Trammell joining Jake Meyers (oblique) on the IL, Brice Matthews is getting a start in center field Tuesday.

  • Jarren Duran CF | BOS

Red Sox's Jarren Duran: On bench vs. righty

Duran is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

The 29-year-old outfielder sat two of the previous three games -- with both absences being against a southpaw starter -- but he's not starting Tuesday versus Yankees right-hander Luis Gil. Duran has yet to get on track offensively this season with a .497 OPS through 74 plate appearances, and he's been especially unproductive over his last four games, going 1-for-16 with a stolen base, two runs and six strikeouts.

  • Red Sox's Tyler Samaniego: Officially called up

The Red Sox recalled Samaniego from Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday.

The left-hander was sent to Worcester last week but is back in the majors with Sonny Gray (hamstring) landing on the injured list. Samaniego made his first three MLB appearances during his stint with Boston earlier this season, and he went unscored upon with a 4:3 K:BB across 3.2 innings.

  • Braves' Ronald Acuna: Good to go Tuesday

Acuna (hand) is starting in right field and batting leadoff Tuesday against the Nationals.

Acuna exited Monday's contest after being struck in the left hand by a pitch, but he's back in the lineup a day later after X-rays came back negative. The 28-year-old outfielder has a .304/.418/.500 slash line with four doubles, a triple, a homer, two steals, three RBI and nine runs in his past 12 games as he's bounced back from a slow start to the campaign.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: No structural damage in elbow

Crawford has been diagnosed with inflammation in his right elbow following an MRI, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Crawford had to be pulled off his rehab assignment when he developed soreness in his pitching arm during his first rehab outing. He has managed to avoid structural damage, however, and hopes to resume throwing "soon" after a brief shutdown period. Crawford hasn't pitched at the major-league level since 2024 because of injury.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Mets' Marcus Semien: Getting turn in leadoff spot

Semien will start at second base and bat leadoff in Tuesday's game against the Twins.

Semien is slashing only .234/.294/.312 on the season but has reached base eight times across his last four contests. The mini hot stretch has earned Semien a turn in the leadoff spot for the first time this season as the Mets try to snap an 11-game losing streak.

  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Red Sox's Sonny Gray: Moved to IL with hamstring strain

The Red Sox placed Gray on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right hamstring strain.

The veteran right-hander departed Monday's start against the Tigers after 2.2 frames due to hamstring soreness, and he's been diagnosed with a strain after undergoing medical imaging. Gray will be eligible to be reinstated from the IL in early May and is hopeful it won't be a lengthy stay on the shelf, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, but he's without an official timeline for return. Top prospect Payton Tolle had his start for Triple-A Worcester skipped over the weekend as a contingency plan, and he could soon be promoted to take Gray's rotation spot.

  • Luis Peralta RP | CHC

Rockies' Luis Peralta: DFA'd by Colorado

The Rockies designated Peralta for assignment Tuesday.

The left-hander missed out on Colorado's Opening Day roster and is now losing his place on the 40-man roster after surrendering 14 earned runs with a 14:13 K:BB over 7.1 innings with Triple-A Albuquerque this season. Peralta also struggled in the big leagues last year with a 9.47 ERA and 2.32 WHIP in 22 appearances.
