Kyle Schwarber LF | PHI
Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Back with Phillies on $150M deal
The Phillies re-signed Schwarber to a five-year, $150 million contract Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Schwarber had a robust market, but it always seemed inevitable that he would return to Philadelphia. A five-year deal for a designated hitter heading into his age-33 season is risky on paper, but Schwarber is coming off his best season, having posted a .928 OPS with 56 home runs and 132 RBI during the regular season. He will be the Phillies' full-time DH again in 2026.

Jonathan India 2B | KC
Royals' Jonathan India: Will stick to second base in 2026
The Royals plan to keep India at second base in 2026 rather than playing him at multiple positions, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
India played third base and left field in addition to second base in 2025, and the Royals believe all the moving around could have affected the 29-year-old's offense, as he slashed just .233/.323/.346 in his first year in Kansas City. It was a bit of a surprise that Royals brought India back for $8 million rather than non-tendering him, but they're confident he can bounce back in his walk year.

Logan Davidson SS | TB
Rays' Logan Davidson: Inks pact with Rays
Davidson signed a minor-league contract with Tampa Bay on Monday, which includes an invitation to spring training, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Davidson bounced between the Athletics and Angels during the 2025 campaign, slashing .167/.222/.286 with one home run, four RBI and three runs scored in 19 games. He'll have a chance to crack the Opening Day roster after receiving an invitation to big-league camp.

Albert Abreu RP | CIN
Albert Abreu: Headed overseas
Abreu signed a contract with the Chunichi Dragons of Nippon Professional Baseball on Monday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Abreu returned from Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball for the 2025 season and joined Cincinnati on a minor-league deal, but he was unable to gain much traction, accruing a 5.79 ERA and 1.95 WHIP over 23.1 frames at Triple-A Louisville. He'll retreat overseas with the hope of finding more success.

Steven Matz SP | TB
Rays' Steven Matz: Latches on with Tampa Bay
Matz agreed to a two-year contract with the Rays on Monday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Matz will suit up for the sixth different team in his veteran career after coming to terms on what's believed to be a multi-year contract with Tampa Bay. The southpaw was used in a variety of scenarios during the 2025 campaign with Boston and St. Louis, which included him securing the first two saves of his big-league career along with five wins. He logged 76.2 innings across 53 appearances last season. It's unclear whether the Rays are planning to use Matz as a starter or reliever.

James Karinchak RP | ATL
Braves' James Karinchak: Lands deal with Atlanta
Karinchak signed a minor-league contract with Atlanta on Monday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Karinchak will receive a new opportunity with Atlanta after failing to make his way to the big leagues while with the White Sox during the 2025 campaign. His last major-league action dates back to the 2023 campaign while with Cleveland, posting a 3.23 ERA with a 52:28 K:BB across 39.0 innings. Karinchak will presumably begin the 2026 campaign at Triple-A Gwinnett and serve as organizational depth.

Yariel Rodriguez P | TOR
Blue Jays' Yariel Rodriguez: Sticking in bullpen
Rodriguez will remain a reliever heading into the 2026 season, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
The Blue Jays hope Rodriguez can continue to improve his command out of the bullpen after he excelled in a relief role down the stretch of the 2025 regular season. Free passes became an issue for him during the postseason, issuing four walks in 2.2 frames. Rodriguez was booted from the 40-man roster earlier this month, though he'll have a chance to win his spot back if he puts together a strong spring camp.

Bryan Mata RP | BOS
Bryan Mata: Inks deal overseas
Mata has signed a contract in Japan, Chris Henrique of BostonSportsJournal.com reports.
Mata struggled to a 5.48 ERA and 1.68 WHIP with 93 strikeouts over 67.1 innings with Triple-A Worcester, so he's elected to try his luck elsewhere in 2026. He played at Triple-A in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 but was never tapped to make his big-league debut while in Boston's farm system.

Roki Sasaki P | LAD
Dodgers' Roki Sasaki: Expected to open 2026 in rotation
Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said in November that Sasaki will "absolutely" be in the team's starting rotation next season, Brian Murphy of MLB.com reports.
Sasaki thrived down the stretch of the regular season and playoffs as a reliever, but Gomes noted that shifting Sasaki to the bullpen was more about "trying to get his delivery back." Gomes added of Sasaki that "we're definitely viewing him as a starter and a really good one." Sasaki posted a 4.72 ERA while walking 22 batters over 34.1 innings in his eight starts for the Dodgers in 2025, but the team is confident Sasaki's struggles in the rotation were related to his mechanics, which they feel have been corrected. The 24-year-old is sure to have workload restrictions as he transitions back to a starting role, though the Dodgers' preference for a six-man rotation will make that easier.

Maikel Garcia 3B | KC
Royals' Maikel Garcia: Strains hamstring in winter ball
Garcia suffered a strained hamstring Sunday while playing for Tiburones de La Guaira in the Venezuelan Winter League, Marcos Grunfeld of El Emergente reports.
Garcia will wait to hear back from the Royals about either returning to winter ball at a later date or shutting things down. At the very least, he is expected to be sidelined for the next week or so. Garcia had a breakout 2025 campaign for Kansas City, slashing .286/.351/.449 with 16 home runs and 23 stolen bases over 160 games.
