Betts went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run and a double in Wednesday's 8-6 extra-inning loss to the Cardinals.

Betts' hitting streak is up to nine games, and this was his third multi-hit effort in that span. The shortstop has gone 12-for-38 (.316) during the streak, though this was his first homer since Aug. 19 in Colorado. On the year, he's batting .244 with a .724 OPS, 17 homers, 53 RBI, 53 runs scored, 19 doubles and one stolen base over 102 games.

Freeman went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run and three walks in Wednesday's 8-6 extra-inning loss to the Cardinals.

Freeman was perfect at the plate Wednesday after going 0-for-2 with a walk a day earlier. The first baseman had a big moment in the first inning with a homer off Brycen Mautz to give the Dodgers an early lead. That blast snapped a nearly two-month power drought for Freeman -- he had gone 47 contests without a long ball, though he still hit .315 with a .730 OPS in that span. He's batting .306 with an .850 OPS, 16 homers, 66 RBI, 70 runs scored, 32 doubles, one triple and six stolen bases through 135 contests on the year. Freeman hasn't missed the 20-homer mark in a full-length campaign since 2015, when he was limited to 18 long balls in 118 contests, but he'll need a bit of a September surge to get to that threshold this year.

Yamamoto allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Yamamoto cruised through five innings, but he gave up a pair of two-run homers over the last two frames of his start. That cost him a quality start, and the Dodgers' bullpen would ultimately falter when Tanner Scott failed to protect a lead in the eighth inning. Yamamoto had allowed just four runs over his previous four starts combined (24.1 innings), giving up only one homer in that span, though he was limited to a 1-1 record during that stretch. He's now at a 2.67 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 161:38 K:BB through 165 innings across 25 starts. His next outing is projected to be at home versus the Reds.

Bernal went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-6, extra-inning win over the Dodgers.

After a 1-for-5 debut Tuesday, Bernal delivered his first big-league homer in his second game. The 22-year-old got the start at designated hitter Wednesday, but he's expected to see a decent share of playing time at catcher over the remainder of the campaign, though the Cardinals also have Ivan Herrera and Pedro Pages capable of playing behind the dish. Bernal hit .278 with an .831 OPS at Triple-A Memphis this year prior to his promotion.

Saggese went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 8-6, extra-inning win over the Dodgers.

Saggese got the Cardinals on the board in the sixth inning with his third homer of the series. He also logged multiple hits for the third game in a row. Saggese's hot bat upon his promotion from Triple-A Memphis in late August, coupled with the Cardinals' infield injury woes, has allowed him to take on a starting role at shortstop for now. On the year, he's batting .239 with a .712 OPS, four homers, 10 RBI, 16 runs scored, two doubles, one triple and one stolen base over 36 contests.

O'Brien allowed an unearned run and struck out one without giving up a hit or a walk over one inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 8-6, extra-inning win over the Dodgers.

O'Brien surrendered the run on a groundout in the 10th inning, which plated the automatic runner. After a bumpy end to August with seven runs allowed over his final 2.2 innings of the month, O'Brien will be looking to stabilize in September and started off the new month well Wednesday. He's 35-for-40 on save chances this season, leading the National League in conversions and trailing only Bryan Baker (39) in the majors. O'Brien has added a 3.88 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 55:23 K:BB across 55.2 innings.

Mautz allowed three runs on two hits, three walks and two hit batsmen while striking out none over one-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Mautz had virtually no control, throwing just 12 of 36 pitches for strikes. He's now allowed nine runs over seven innings across three appearances in the majors this season. Andre Pallante (elbow) is expected back soon, so this was likely nothing more than a spot start for Mautz, not that he did enough to earn another turn through the rotation on his own.

Ballesteros went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-3, extra-inning loss to the Yankees.

Ballesteros went deep in the 10th inning, but the Angels weren't able to get closer than a three-run deficit. The long ball was his first in the majors since May 3 when he was still with the Cubs, a span of 54 contests without a homer for the 22-year-old. He's hitting .207 with a .594 OPS, seven homers, 29 RBI, 22 runs scored, nine doubles and one stolen base over 85 contests between the Angels and the Cubs this year.

Grissom went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-3, extra-inning loss to the Yankees.

Grissom accounted for the lone run and both hits off Yankees starter Cam Schlittler in this contest. Grissom has been pretty steady lately, going 16-for-61 (.262) with three homers and 12 RBI over his last 16 games. He's batting .249 with a .705 OPS, 10 homers, 59 RBI, 40 runs scored, 20 doubles and one stolen base across 97 contests on the year, but his recent hitting has helped him secure something closer to an everyday role.

Detmers allowed one run on six hits and struck out eight without walking a batter over seven innings in a no-decision Wednesday versus the Yankees.

The Angels moved back to a five-man rotation when George Klassen (back) landed on the injured list, pressing Detmers into action against the Yankees. Detmers delivered another gem for his fifth straight quality start, but he still wasn't as good as Cam Schlittler, who pitched eight innings of one-run, two-hit ball. With just three runs allowed over his last 33 innings and a 32:5 K:BB in that span, Detmers is setting himself up to end the year strong. He's maintained a 3.44 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 182:44 K:BB over 162 innings through 28 starts, but playing on the Angels has left him with a 4-8 record. It won't be any easier in his next outing, which is projected to be in Boston.
