The Royals recalled Hoffman from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Hoffman permitted two runs with a 2:3 K:BB over 4.2 innings with the Phillies earlier this season, and he holds a 4.81 ERA and 54:26 K:BB across 43 innings at the Triple-A level in 2026. The 29-year-old reliever was acquired from Philadelphia in a minor trade last month.

Ward is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Boston.

Ward has been dreadful since being acquired by the Mariners at the trade deadline, slashing .121/.227/.152 across 19 contests. As a result, he might find himself on the short side of a platoon moving forward. Lazaro Montes has been called up and is slotted in at designated hitter for Seattle on Tuesday.

The Dodgers reinstated Smith (neck) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Smith is ready to rejoin the Dodgers after missing nearly three months due to a neck injury. The veteran backstop went 4-for-16 with two doubles and a homer during his five-game rehab assignment and is looking to shake off an underwhelming start to the year that saw him post a .720 OPS through 52 games. Dalton Rushing (elbow) is also back from the injured list, though he's expected to served as a left-handed bench bat while Smith and Hunter Feduccia handle catching duties.

The Nationals transferred Millas (finger) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Shifting Millas to the 60-day IL frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the Nationals' September call-ups. Millas has been out since mid-July with a fractured left index finger. He'll be eligible to return in mid-September and should have a chance to be activated at some point this month.

The Nationals selected Morales' contract from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

Morales earned a promotion to the big leagues by collecting a .286/.363/.519 batting line with 25 home runs and a 43:111 BB:K over 104 contests this season with Rochester. The 24-year-old has split his time between first and third base this season, and he should see fairly regular playing time down the stretch between those two positions and designated hitter.

Prielipp is expected to pitch in bulk relief behind opener Andrew Morris during Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports.

Though manager Derek Shelton hasn't officially confirmed that Prielipp will work as a bulk reliever, Tuesday would have been the rookie left-hander's turn in the rotation. Morris hasn't covered more than 3.2 innings in any appearance this season and has pitched no more than two frames since May 3, so he shouldn't be expected to go more than once through the batting order before exiting the contest. Using an opener in front of Prielipp should help the Twins better manage his workload; between Triple-A and the majors, the 25-year-old has covered 117.2 innings this season, a 35-inning increase from his 2025 total.

The Phillies recalled Holman from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.

Holman was a waiver claim of the Phillies back in May and has posted a 3.60 ERA and 28:7 K:BB over 30 innings at the Triple-A level in 2026. He made 40 appearances for the Athletics over the previous two seasons, holding a 4.66 ERA and 33:18 K:BB in 38.2 frames.

The Phillies activated Marchan (knee) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Marchan has been shelved since late July with left knee patellar tendinitis, but he's been cleared to return after playing 12 rehab games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 27-year-old will operate as an extra catcher for the Phillies in the final month.

Suarez won't be available Tuesday and Wednesday for the remaining two games of the Reds' series versus the Padres in order to take the U.S. naturalization test, Theo DeRosa of MLB.com reports.

After signing with the Tigers in 2008 as an international free agent out of Venezuela and kicking off a 13-year MLB career in 2014, Suarez is now looking to make the United States his permanent home. He'll complete an interview and take a written English language exam and an oral civics test over the next two days as he looks to obtain citizenship. Following the Reds' off day Thursday, Suarez will likely make his return to the lineup in Friday's series opener versus the Brewers.

The Red Sox recalled Olds from Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

The right-hander was optioned to Worcester over the weekend but is already back in the big leagues since Tyron Guerrero (shoulder) landed on the injured list. Olds made six appearances for Boston after getting his first promotion to the majors in mid-August, and he pitched well with an 8:3 K:BB across six scoreless innings.
