Ohtani (knee) threw a bullpen session Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Ohtani threw 31 pitches in the session and used his entire repertoire. It's the first time he's thrown off the mound since having his left knee drained and treated with a cortisone shot over the All-Star break. The next step for Ohtani isn't clear, but it's expected to be a few weeks before he's ready to make a start on the mound. Ohtani will continue serving as the Dodgers' designated hitter.

Sheets is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Atlanta.

The left-handed-hitting Sheets will hit the bench while Atlanta sends southpaw Martin Perez to the bump. Jase Bowen will spell Sheets in left field and will bat ninth.

Jung (calf) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Ezequiel Duran will draw the start at third base in place of Jung, who was lifted early in Tuesday's 10-0 win due to left calf tightness. Per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, Jung downplayed any concern about the injury, noting that he feels fine and expects to be available off the bench Wednesday. The Rangers will have a team day off Thursday, so with two full days of rest on tap, Jung could be ready for the three-game series versus the Mariners this weekend.

The Red Sox recalled Gamboa from Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday.

Gamboa will serve as the 27th man for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Orioles. The lefty has logged a 2.25 ERA and 5:4 K:BB in eight innings for Boston this season and could offer some length out of the bullpen in Wednesday's nightcap, if needed.

Montgomery (shin) will start at shortstop and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

The White Sox held Montgomery out of the lineup Tuesday due to a sore right shin, an injury that stemmed from fouling a pitch off of himself during Monday's 10-3 win. Montgomery was still deemed available off the bench Tuesday, though he went unused in Chicago's 10-0 loss. He's feeling good after a day of rest and will take back his usual spot in the field and in the heart of the Chicago lineup.

Rivera will start the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Orioles, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

The Red Sox had left open the possibility of Ranger Suarez (groin/illness) coming off the injured list to start Wednesday's nightcap, but they'll hold Suarez back for now and give Rivera another turn. Rivera has allowed three runs with a 9:4 K:BB over 9.1 frames covering two starts and one relief appearance for Boston this season. He's thrown 64 pitches in both of his starts and not lasted more than 3.2 innings in either outing, so Rivera is unlikely to offer significant length Wednesday.

Interim manager Chad Tracy said that Suarez (groin/illness) won't be activated from the injured list to start the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Orioles, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Suarez isn't dealing with any setbacks related to the left groin strain that sent him to the shelf July 9; instead, it's an illness that surfaced earlier this week that will keep him from taking the hill Wednesday. Eduardo Rivera will draw the start for the nightcap as the Red Sox go for their 16th straight win, but Suarez shouldn't have to wait long to return from the injured list. The Red Sox could insert Suarez into the rotation at some point during their home series versus the Blue Jays this weekend or in Monday's series opener versus the Athletics.

Chapman secured the save in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader against Baltimore, allowing one hit and one walk in a scoreless ninth inning.

Chapman threw only six of his 13 pitches for strikes and failed to record a strikeout, so he didn't have his best stuff on the hill Wednesday. Even so, the veteran southpaw successfully converted his seventh consecutive save and hasn't given up a run in six straight outings. Through 32.2 innings this year, Chapman has a 1.93 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 40:16 K:BB with 23 saves in 25 attempts.

Campusano will start at catcher and bat sixth in Wednesday's game versus Atlanta.

It's the second straight start and fourth start in six contests coming out of the All-Star break for Campusano, who might be emerging as the preferred option at catcher for the Padres. Campusano has put up an .865 OPS in 12 games this month since coming off the injured list.

Bennett (6-3) earned the win in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Orioles, allowing three runs on nine hits and no walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

While Bennett did fall one out shy of logging a quality start, he pitched deep enough into the game to claim the win. The 25-year-old southpaw was staked to an early 4-0 lead Wednesday, pounding the zone for 64 strikes (84 pitches), and the three runs allowed were his most since his June 10 start in Tampa Bay. Bennett, who has worked at least five innings in all 10 of his outings, is set to bring an impressive 2.58 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 42:9 K:BB over 59.1 frames into a tough test in Sacramento against the Athletics.
