  • Astros' Mike Burrows: Back in rotation Wednesday

Burrows is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

After having his turn in the rotation skipped over the weekend, Burrows was available out of the bullpen for the Astros' three-game series with the Guardians and tossed a scoreless inning in his lone relief appearance Friday. He'll now move back into a starting role during the upcoming week, but Burrows may need a strong showing in Toronto in order to maintain his spot in the rotation on a more permanent basis. Cristian Javier (shoulder) completed his fourth rehab start Sunday and could be ready to return from the 60-day injured list as soon as next weekend, which would appear to leave Burrows or Kai-Wei Teng most in danger of shifting to the bullpen.

  • Jorge Barrosa CF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Makes second straight start

Barrosa started in center field and went 0-for-2 in Sunday's 4-2 loss to Minnesota.

Barrosa made a second consecutive start in center field after the club placed Jordan Lawlar (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Saturday. He's projected to miss between four and six weeks, which means an opportunity for the light-hitting Barrosa, who is slashing .181/.252/.352 over 119 plate appearances. Prospect Tommy Troy is also an option, but manager Torey Lovullo wants him to work with outfielders coach Dave McKay before entrusting him to center field, per Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports.

  • Yimi Garcia RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Return delayed by soreness

Garcia (elbow) experienced renewed elbow soreness following his most recent rehab appearance June 18 and hasn't pitched since, MLB.com reports.

The Blue Jays had been anticipating having Garcia pitch Sunday for Triple-A Buffalo, but that didn't end up happening. Per Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca, Garcia's fastball was sitting about 93 mph in his last rehab appearance, down from the 95-to-96-mph range he typically sat before he underwent surgery in September to remove scar tissue from his elbow. The 35-year-old right-hander's return date will remain murky until he's able to get back on a mound and demonstrate he's ready to be activated from the 60-day injured list.

  • Kohl Drake SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Kohl Drake: Option to start Wednesday

Drake could be a candidate to start or work in bulk relief Wednesday against the Cardinals, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

The Diamondbacks received a boost Sunday when Jose Cabrera came up from Triple-A Reno and filled in admirably as a starter in place of the injured Ryne Nelson (elbow), but the club still needs to address another hole in the rotation created by Michael Soroka's (glute) move to the injured list. Like Cabrera, Drake had been serving as a starter at Reno and was also called up Sunday, but Drake wasn't needed to provide length out of the bullpen in the Diamondbacks' 4-2 loss to the Twins while Cabrera covered five innings. If he continues to go unused in relief in the first two games of the Cardinals' series in St. Louis, Drake would make for a logical choice to serve as Soroka's replacement in the rotation.

  • Shane Bieber SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Shane Bieber: Season debut coming Tuesday

Bieber (elbow) is slated to return from the 60-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Astros in Toronto, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Bieber was initially confirmed to start Monday's series opener, but after Dylan Cease had his start Sunday postponed due to inclement weather in Chicago, he and the other four members of the Toronto rotation all ended up being pushed back a day in the pitching schedule. The 2020 American League Cy Young Award winner will still tentatively line up for a two-start week in his return from the IL, with Bieber's second outing expected to come Sunday at home versus the Rangers. Though Bieber should be close to fully stretched out after reaching five innings in his final two rehab outings, fantasy managers may want to tread carefully with the veteran righty after he had mixed results over his five starts in the minors. Between stops at the rookie-level Florida Complex League, Single-A Dunedin and Triple-A Buffalo, Bieber turned in a 6.88 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB across 17 innings.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Braves' Rowdy Tellez: Swats first Atlanta homer

Tellez went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss to the Brewers.

The veteran slugger replaced Matt Olson at first base with the game out of hand late, and Tellez took Chad Patrick deep in the ninth inning in his only plate appearance. It was Tellez's first homer in five games since joining Atlanta's 26-man roster earlier this month, but he has yet to make a start for his new team while stuck behind Olson and Dominic Smith on the depth charts at first base and DH.

  • Mauricio Dubon SS | ATL

Braves' Mauricio Dubon: Three hits from leadoff spot

Dubon went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Brewers.

Getting the start in left field and hitting leadoff, Dubon accounted for nearly half of Atlanta's hits in a 9-4 loss. The veteran utility player has regularly hit atop the order against left-handed pitching while Ronald Acuna (hamstring) has been on the shelf in June, and over 16 games this month Dubon sports a .305/.349/.542 slash line with two doubles, four homers, one steal, eight runs and 13 RBI.

  • Noah Schultz SP | CHW

White Sox's Noah Schultz: Delivers scoreless rehab start

Schultz (knee) struck out four over 2.2 scoreless innings in a rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Charlotte. He scattered two hits and one walk and also hit two batters.

Schultz made two rehab starts with Charlotte over the past week and has been building up his workload gradually since landing on the shelf May 26 due to right knee patellar tendinitis. After tossing 1.2 innings and 38 pitches for Charlotte on Tuesday, Schultz upped his pitch count to 57 (38 strikes) on Sunday. He'll likely need one more start in the minors to push his count into the 65-to-75-pitch range before re-emerging as an option in the Chicago rotation. The 6-foot-10, 240-pound southpaw flashed talent but struggled mightily with control over his first eight big-league starts prior to going on the injured list, as he walked 13.1 percent of the batters he faced and also hit four batters in 38.2 innings.

  • Kyle Teel C | CHW

White Sox's Kyle Teel: Could be activated Monday

White Sox manager Will Venable said Sunday that Teel (knee/hamstring) is a "possibility" to return from the 60-day injured list ahead of Monday's series opener versus the Guardians, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Teel has been on the shelf all season while recovering from a right hamstring strain and a right knee LCL sprain, but he finally looks to be on the cusp of making his 2026 debut. The 24-year-old catcher restarted a rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte last week, appearing in four games while going 8-for-16 with one home run, one double and one walk. He was able to catch a full nine-inning game Friday, so assuming his knee and hamstring aren't causing any issues for him, he should be ready to take over as Chicago's top backstop. The White Sox have been getting by with a timeshare of Drew Romo (.591 OPS in 29 games) and Edgar Quero (.486 OPS in 55 games) behind the dish, though neither has been especially productive.

  • Max Kranick RP | WAS

Nationals' Max Kranick: Kicks off rehab assignment

Kranick (elbow) began a rehab assignment with Single-A Fredericksburg on Sunday, striking out two over 1.2 perfect innings.

Kranick made his first appearance in a game in more than a year as he works his way back from flexor tendon surgery. The right-hander will need several more rehab outings before Washington considers adding him to its bullpen.
