Robinson (ankle) will not be ready for the beginning of the NBA season, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports. Robinson is coming off two procedures on his left ankle, with the most recent surgery taking place on May 14. According to Begley, a return in December or January could be on the table depending on how the rehab process goes, as neither Robinson nor the Knicks want to rush the process to make sure that the center is at full strength before getting clearance. With Robinson sidelined to begin the season, Julius Randle could spend plenty of time at center in smaller lineups, while Precious Achiuwa and Jericho Sims will have more opportunities to earn meaningful minutes.

Robinson underwent surgery Monday to address a stress injury to his left ankle, Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com reports. The procedure was Robinson's second of the season on the left ankle, which he reinjured during the Knicks' first-round playoff series victory over the 76ers. Robinson previously underwent surgery in December after suffering a stress fracture to the ankle and missed 50 games before returning to action in late March. He played in just 16 games (including playoffs) following his return before the Knicks announced last Tuesday that Robinson would be re-evaluated in 6-to-8 weeks after aggravating the injury. It's unclear if that re-evaluation timeline still holds now that he's had surgery, but in any case, Robinson won't be available for the remainder of the Knicks' playoff run. He'll turn his focus toward getting back to full health for training camp in October.

The Knicks announced Tuesday that Robinson sustained a stress injury to his surgically repaired left ankle last week during the team's first-round series victory over the 76ers and will be re-evaluated in 6-to-8 weeks. Robinson won't need an additional surgery and is expected to make a full recovery before training camp, but the setback with the ankle rules him out for the rest of the Knicks' playoff run. In Robinson's absence, Precious Achiuwa is expected to re-enter the rotation as the primary backup to starting center Isaiah Hartenstein during the Knicks' second-round series versus the Pacers. Robinson made just 31 appearances during the regular season, posting averages of 5.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.2 steals, 1.1 blocks and 0.6 assists in 24.8 minutes.

Robinson is listed as out for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Pacers due to left ankle injury management. Robinson logged 12 minutes in Game 1 but seemingly aggravated the surgically repaired ankle that has bothered him throughout the playoffs. Precious Achiuwa will likely receive increased playing time in Robinson's absence, while the latter's next chance to suit up is Game 3 on Friday.

Robinson (ankle) will be available for Thursday's Game 6 matchup with the 76ers. Robinson logged 25 minutes in his return Tuesday, so he should see a similar workload in Game 6. With Robinson back in the mix, Precious Achiuwa will likely be out of the rotation.
