The Jazz traded Williams and John Konchar to the Timberwolves on Friday in exchange for Josh Green and cash considerations, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Williams will get a fresh start in Minnesota after taking a bit of a leap in his sophomore season. The 21-year-old wing played in 67 regular-season games (41 starts) last season, averaging 8.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.8 steals while shooting 46.8 percent from the field in 24.3 minutes per showing. However, the Colorado product faces plenty of competition for minutes in Minnesota and isn't guaranteed meaningful burn.

Williams closed last season as a starter for a Jazz team that was looking ahead to 2026-27, but they should have most of their key players healthy for Opening Night and added Darryn Peterson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Williams (rest) has been ruled out for Monday's Las Vegas Summer League game against the Bulls, Sarah Todd of The Deseret News reports. Monday's matchup will mark the second game of a back-to-back set, so Williams will receive a rest day. Darryn Peterson (rest) and Ace Bailey (back) will join Williams on the inactive list Monday, so guys like Orlando Robinson and Blake Hinson will be asked to step it up on offense.
