Hayes is starting Thursday's game against the Jazz, Daniel Starkand of LakersNation.com reports. Hayes is entering the starting lineup for Deandre Ayton, who has been ruled out Thursday due to a left elbow issue. Hayes is coming off a solid showing Sunday against Phoenix, finishing with 12 points, nine rebounds and two assists in 18 minutes off the bench.

Hayes notched 12 points (4-4 FG, 4-5 FT), nine rebounds and two assists across 18 minutes during Sunday's 116-114 victory over the Suns. Hayes scored in double figures for the first time since Nov. 15 and grabbed a season-high nine rebounds, falling one short of a double-double. He's played double-digit minutes in 21 straight games, topping 20 minutes only four times. Even with Sunday's strong performance, Hayes' production has been underwhelming thus far.

Hayes finished with three points (1-1 FG, 1-4 FT), five rebounds and three blocks over 17 minutes during Sunday's 112-108 win over the 76ers. Hayes has been on a tear defending the rim recently, averaging 1.6 blocks in his last five games. While he does come off the bench backing up Deandre Ayton, Hayes may have some standalone value as a blocks specialist and is a worthy add if Ayton were to miss any time.

Hayes had eight points (4-4 FG, 0-1 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 21 minutes during Sunday's 133-121 victory over the Pelicans. Deandre Ayton (knee) was well on his way to an outstanding stat line before a knee injury forced him out, and Hayes continued the assault on New Orleans' withering interior in Ayton's place. Hayes' numbers off the bench have been nothing special, but Ayton's heavy load and superb play are the cause of the low numbers. Ayton's injury appears to be minor, but a start could be in store for Hayes if Ayton is sidelined.

Hayes isn't part of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Mavericks, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports. Hayes made a spot start Tuesday, but he'll return to the second unit for Friday's matchup against Dallas, with Deandre Ayton returning to action following a one-game absence. The center logged eight points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block over 30 minutes during the start.
