Edey's (ankle, elbow) role becomes more intriguing following Memphis' addition of Cameron Boozer with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The young center has shown encouraging development during his first two seasons and still projects to receive significant frontcourt minutes. However, Memphis now possesses additional depth in the frontcourt, creating some uncertainty regarding lineup combinations. Injuries have limited Edey to 66 regular-season appearances through two years, so his health is a far bigger concern.

Edey underwent surgery Tuesday to resolve discomfort and bone stress in his left ankle, and he'll miss the rest of the 2025-26 season. Memphis announced Sunday that Edey would require surgery, but he wasn't officially ruled out for the rest of the season until after going under the knife Tuesday. The club expects the big man to make a full recovery ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

The Grizzlies announced Wednesday that Edey continues to recover from a stress reaction in his left ankle and will maintain his current plan of offloading and rehabilitation before being re-evaluated in six weeks. After Edey initially sustained the injury Dec. 11, the Grizzlies relayed that the second-year center would be shut down for at least four weeks before being re-evaluated. Despite having spent the past month rehabbing the injury, Edey seemingly hasn't taken any major steps forward in his recovery and will now need another six weeks to let his ankle heal up. As a result of this latest update, Edey appears unlikely to be ready to return to game action until at least early March, making it tough to justify rostering him in most redraft formats. With Brandon Clarke (calf) also facing a long-term absence, Jock Landale should continue to hold down the fort as the Grizzlies' starting center.

Head coach Tuomas Iisalo said Sunday that Edey (ankle) will travel with the Grizzlies for Thursday's game against the Magic in Berlin, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Edey is set to miss his 15th straight game Sunday as he recovers from a stress reaction in his left foot. However, he's traveling with the team to Europe and could return against Orlando on Thursday or in next Sunday's rematch against the Magic in London. Iisalo also relayed that an update on the big man's progress is expected soon. If he remains on the shelf, Jock Landale will likely continue to see increased minutes.

Edey (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Nets. Edey hasn't played since Dec. 7, and it's unclear when he'll be able to return to the hardwood. The big man, who's averaging 13.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per game this season, should be considered doubtful for the Grizzlies' next game against the Magic on Thursday. He's expected to be re-evaluated soon.
