Celtics' Al Horford: Does little in spot start

Horford recorded three points (1-4 FG, 1-3 3Pt), five rebounds and one assist over 21 minutes during Thursday's 127-120 loss to the Mavericks.

Coming off a strong double-double performance in Tuesday's win against the Cavaliers, Horford was inserted into the Celtics' starting five Thursday due to the absence of Jrue Holiday (shoulder). Horford couldn't replicate the success he found two days prior, with his lone field goal coming on a three-pointer. He could start in Saturday's game against the Knicks if Holiday is not cleared to play.

  • Warriors' Kevon Looney: Will play Thursday

Looney (nasal bone) has been cleared to play in Thursday's game against the Lakers.

Looney will help provide some much-needed depth in the frontcourt Thursday on the road in Los Angeles. The veteran big man is coming off a decent all-around performance in Wednesday's loss to the Jazz, finishing with six points, 10 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block across 23 minutes off the bench for Golden State.

  • Warriors' Trayce Jackson-Davis: Available Thursday

Jackson-Davis (knee) is available for Thursday's game against the Lakers.

After missing Wednesday's loss to Utah due to knee soreness, Jackson-Davis will return Thursday on the second leg of Golden State's back-to-back. The 24-year-old big man will come off the bench against Los Angeles, and he has averaged 5.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 12.5 minutes over his last five games.

Celtics' Al Horford: Joins starting lineup Thursday

Horford will start in Thursday's game against the Mavericks, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.

With Jrue Holiday out with a shoulder injury Thursday, Horford will make his 26th start of the season for the Celtics. Over 25 appearances with Boston's first unit in 2024-25, Horford has averaged 9.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.8 blocks and 2.2 threes in 28.6 minutes. The veteran big man is in line for a boost in fantasy appeal against Dallas.

  • Steven Adams C | HOU

Rockets' Steven Adams: Ruled out Thursday

Adams (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Timberwolves, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

After playing 13 minutes in Tuesday's loss to the Nets, Adams will miss Thursday's game in Minnesota. With the veteran big man set to miss this matchup against the Timberwolves, the Rockets will likely lean on All-Star Alperen Sengun more Thursday. Jock Landale could also see a bump in minutes.

  • N'Faly Dante C | ATL

Rockets' N'Faly Dante: Joins parent club

The Rockets recalled Dante from the G League's Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Thursday, Lachard Binkley of SI.com reports.

Dante will rejoin the Rockets ahead of their game against Minnesota on Thursday. The rookie two-way center has yet to appear in an NBA game and is unlikely to be part of the rotation Thursday.

  • Thunder's Branden Carlson: Returns on two-way deal

Carlson agreed to a two-way contract with the Thunder on Thursday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

With Ajay Mitchell (toe) having been converted to a standard two-year deal Thursday, the Thunder used their open two-way spot on Carlson. The big man previously signed a one-year deal with the Thunder in November before getting waived and then re-signing with Oklahoma City on a pair of 10-day pacts in January. Overall, the 25-year-old rookie has appeared in 15 games for the Thunder this season, averaging 3.1 points and 1.7 rebounds in 6.3 minutes.

  • Joel Embiid C | PHI

76ers' Joel Embiid: Available against Detroit

Embiid (knee) has been cleared to play in Friday's game against the Pistons.

After missing 16 of the last 17 games for the 76ers, Embiid did not appear on the injury report for Philadelphia, making him available to play Friday in Detroit. In his first game back from the extended absence, the one-time NBA MVP recorded a triple-double in Tuesday's win against the Mavericks, finishing with 29 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and one steal. This is a promising sign for the team, as the superstar big man might be back to form quicker than anticipated.

  • Spurs' Charles Bassey: Ruled out for Friday

Bassey (knee) will not play in Friday's game against Charlotte.

Bassey sustained a sprained left MCL injury against the Grizzlies on Monday and is slated to miss his second consecutive contest after missing Wednesday's game against the Hawks. With Bassey out, Jeremy Sochan will see extended minutes backing up Victor Wembanyama for the time being.

  • Brook Lopez C | LAC

Bucks' Brook Lopez: Expected to play Friday

Lopez is listed as probable for Friday's game versus the Hawks due to a left knee contusion.

Lopez has missed just one game this season and is expected to remain in the lineup Friday despite dealing with a knee issue. The veteran big man continues to excel at protecting the rim and spacing the floor, as he is averaging 2.2 blocks and 1.8 three-pointers made across his last 10 outings.
