NBA Player News

  • Raptors' Chris Boucher: Used sparingly in win

Boucher registered three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and one rebound across five minutes during Wednesday's 130-113 win over the Nets.

Boucher barely touched the floor, shifting down in the rotation with the Raptors now presenting a relatively healthy roster. Assuming the team can remain largely injury-free, Boucher will likely struggle to play meaningful minutes on a nightly basis.

  • Jazz's Kyle Filipowski: Refined role continues in loss

Filipowski contributed two points (1-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt), six rebounds, two assists and one block over 11 minutes during Wednesday's 119-103 loss to the Knicks.

Filipowski played fewer than 15 minutes for the fourth time in the past five games, during which time he has scored a total of just 11 points. It has been rough sledding for the rookie, especially after he was thrust into a sizeable role earlier in the season. There is a realistic chance he once again logs meaningful minutes as the season moves forward.

  • Kel'el Ware C | MIA

    Heat's Kel'el Ware: Tallies career-high 10 points

Ware accumulated 10 points (4-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one block across 17 minutes during Wednesday's 119-108 win over the Pelicans.

Ware scored a career-high 10 points, delivering another encouraging performance. After playing a sporadic role to begin the season, Ware appears to have assumed the role of backup center behind Bam Adebayo. After Thomas Bryant was traded to Indiana, Ware shifted up in the rotation, an indication that the coaching staff has enough trust to get him out there on a regular basis.

  • Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Fails to score in loss

Theis closed Wednesday's 119-108 loss to the Heat with zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and two blocks over 18 minutes.

Theis continued to play a limited role off the bench behind impressive rookie Yves Missi. Theis has scored in double-digits just once this season, averaging a very modest 3.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game.

  • 76ers' Andre Drummond: Returning against Kings

Drummond (toe) is available for Wednesday's game against the Kings, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.

After missing the past three games with a toe injury, Drummond will suit up for the shorthanded 76ers on Wednesday. Guerschon Yabusele will draw the starting nod against the Kings in Joel Embiid's (rest) absence, so Drummond's fantasy appeal remains limited despite the superstar big man's void.

  • Lakers' Anthony Davis: Questionable to face Portland

Davis (ankle) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Trail Blazers, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.

Davis has been a regular on the injury report, most recently due to a left ankle sprain. He hasn't missed a game since Nov. 6, but Thursday is the first leg of a back-to-back set for the Lakers, so he could be sidelined for one of those contests. Davis averaged 22.9 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.3 steals across 33.8 minutes per game across 13 outings in December.

  • Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Reverts to bench against Houston

Gafford isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Rockets, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.

With Dereck Lively (hip) back in action, Gafford will head back to the bench Wednesday. In 17 games from the second unit this season, Gafford is averaging 11.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 19.1 minutes.

  • Mavericks' Dereck Lively: Set to return against Houston

Lively (hip) will be available for Wednesday's game against the Rockets.

After missing the last three games with a hip contusion, Lively will return to the floor for the Mavericks on Wednesday. Head coach Jason Kidd said Lively will have a 15-to-18-minute restriction in his return against Houston.

  • Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Not yet practicing

Robinson (ankle) has yet to begin running at full speed but is expected to be cleared for full practice at some point in January, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.

Robinson is recovering from offseason ankle surgery but appears to still be multiple weeks from suiting up for games. The 26-year-old big man hasn't appeared in a game this season, allowing for Precious Achiuwa to operate as the Knicks' backup center. Robinson shouldn't be expected back until at least late January.

  • Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Questionable to play Thursday

Porzingis (ankle) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Timberwolves, Justin Turpin of WEEI.com reports.

Porzingis has been unable to play in the Celtics' last three games due to a left ankle sprain. If he's not cleared to play Thursday, Al Horford would likely start at center while Luke Kornet and Neemias Queta would provide depth off the bench.
