  • Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Logs 25 minutes in loss

Gafford closed with 14 points (7-9 FG), four rebounds, three blocks, two steals and one assist across 25 minutes during Monday's 110-102 loss to the Rockets. Despite briefly exiting the game due to a leg issue, Gafford played a season-high 25 minutes in the loss. Although he was still reportedly on a minutes restriction of no more than 18, he exceeded that, putting up solid contributions on both ends of the floor. The Mavericks are still without a number of frontcourt options, meaning as long as Gafford can remain healthy, he should have a clear path to minutes.

Gafford came up lame following a contested shot, and he checked out of the matchup immediately after. He was already on a minute restriction after recently coming back from an ankle injury, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Mavs shut him down the rest of the way.

Gafford will remain limited to around 15-18 minutes in Monday's game against Houston, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports. • Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Capped at 17 minutes in debut

Gafford (ankle) registered seven points (2-3 FG, 3-3 FT), four rebounds and three assists in 17 minutes in Saturday's 122-110 loss to the Pistons in Mexico City. Cleared to make his season debut Saturday after missing Dallas' first five games due to a right ankle sprain, Gafford entered the starting five while the Mavericks were without both Dereck Lively (knee) and Anthony Davis (calf). However, head coach Jason Kidd said prior to the contest that Gafford would be limited to 15-to-18 minutes Saturday, and Kidd ended up sticking to his word. Despite the light playing time, Gafford was productive enough during his time on the court and could see his minutes pick up in subsequent contests, especially if Dallas remains without Lively and Davis. Gafford profiles as a decent streaming option for field-goal percentage, rebounds and blocks whenever he's in line for meaningful minutes.
