The top five wide receivers in full PPR scoring this season are Malik Nabers, Rashee Rice, Chris Godwin, Jauan Jennings, and Justin Jefferson. It's been that kind of season. Those five, plus Nico Collins, are the only wide receivers averaging more than 19 Fantasy points per game that aren't currently hurt. A.J. Brown and Cooper Kupp join them. Obviously missing are first-round picks Tyreek Hill, Ja'Marr Chase, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and CeeDee Lamb. There is a case to be made to buy low on all four of these guys, though that may be difficult after Chase's monster Monday night.

The riskiest of the group has to be Tyreek Hill, and that has nothing to do with Hill. I'm no longer sure he can be a top-12 wide receiver with either Skylar Thompson or Tim Boyle at quarterback. And no one can be certain that Tua Tagovailoa will return any time soon. Even if he does, it's worth remembering that the Dolphins have been hot starters, but they really struggled down the stretch last year, particularly in cold weather. They don't have a lot of potential cold games, but they do play at Green Bay in a night game on November 28th, and they are at Cleveland in the Fantasy Championships for a night game on December 29th. In other words, if I'm buying Hill, I am buying lower than I am with the other wide receivers I drafted in Round 1.

The one I'm really not concerned about at all is CeeDee Lamb, and I would be willing to pay almost full price for him at this point. Lamb has had a weird start to the year, but I don't see anything that suggests it will continue.

Who's Out

The following players are not being projected to play Week 4 at this time. Here's what it means:

No ad available
DeVonta Smith WR
PHI Philadelphia • #6
Age: 25 • Experience: 4 yrs.
If both Brown and Smith are out, Dallas Goedert may be the number one tight end in Week 4, and Jalen Hurts may be a sit.
Adam Thielen WR
CAR Carolina • #19
Age: 34 • Experience: 11 year
Diontae Johnson looks like a must-start wide receiver.
WR Preview
Numbers to Know
  • 37.8% -- Malik Nabers leads the NFL with a 37.8% target share. Rashee Rice, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Chris Godwin are the only other players above 30%.
  • 3.77 -- Jauan Jennings' 3.77 yards per route run is tied with Justin Jefferson, just .02 behind Rice.
  • 122 -- Diontae Johnson produced 122 yards in his first game with Andy Dalton. He produced 34 in two games combined with Bryce Young.
  • 6.0 -- Brandon Aiyuk is averaging just six yards per target this season. Last year, he averaged 12.9, and his career mark is 9.7. Expect regression.
  • 76% -- 76% of Jaxon Smith-Njigba's targets came in Week 2 against the Patriots. He looks like the definition of a boom/bust flex.
  • 50 -- Garrett Wilson is averaging 50 yards per game this season. He averaged 61.3 in 2023 and 64.9 in 2022.
  • 6 -- Courtland Sutton has seen six red zone targets. That is tied with Diontae Johnson and Drake London for most among wide receivers.

I was skeptical of Jennings last week, and that looks silly now. But I think it's important to remember why someone might be skeptical. He scored 51 Fantasy points all of last season. I would still expect Brandon Aiyuk to be the best wide receiver for the 49ers this week. All that being said, you can't ignore a guy who just scored 46.5 PPR Fantasy points, and Jennings should be rostered everywhere. He's also a start for all of you playing in three wide receiver leagues.

Like Jennings, I'm not sure Odunze can keep this up when Keenan Allen returns, but unlike Jennings, we fully anticipated this type of upside from the rookie. Odunze should not be on the waiver wire, and he shouldn't be on the waiver wire if he's bad in Week 4 and Week 5, either. First-round rookies need to be rostered for as long as possible because if they hit, they have league-winning upside, which Odunze just showed.

I would expect Pat Surtain to line up opposite Garrett Wilson, and he's shut down just about everyone he has faced. That should mean more volume for Lazard, who has already established himself as Rodgers' preferred end-zone target. Lazard is a good WR3 with top-20 upside if he scores.

With Adam Thielen headed to Injured Reserve, the Panthers will need someone to step up as their WR2, and I'd like to bet on their 2024 first-rounder. Legette is not in my top 48 WRs this week, so he's no more than a stash, but if Dalton cooks like he did in Week 3, there will be someone other than Diontae Johnson worth starting.

Godwin ranks third in the NFL in catches, seventh in receiving yards, and third in Fantasy points amongst receivers. This week, he's not even the most expensive wide receiver on his own team. He should be the chalkiest of wide receivers, but I do not want to be without him in cash games.

Moore's falling price is completely justified by his lack of Fantasy production. But he had 28 targets on the season and I just can't believe the Bears offense will continue to be this inefficient. The Rams have surrendered the second-most Fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season.
