  • Woods went untargeted over nine snaps in Sunday's 19-13 win over Chicago in Week 2. For the second straight week, Woods was not targeted and saw minimal action. Through two weeks, he's played 21 snaps, the same amount as second-year wideout Xavier Hutchinson.

  • Woods was not targeted over 12 snaps in Sunday's 29-27 win over Indianapolis in Week 1. Woods served at the back end of the depth chart along with second-year wideout Xavier Hutchinson, both of whom were allotted 12 snaps. Woods, a 12-year veteran, is coming off his statistically worst season and will operate as a fourth or fifth wideout unless injuries hit.

  • Woods caught all four targets for 42 yards in Friday's 20-12 preseason win over Pittsburgh. Woods made his preseason debut and led all Houston receivers in yards. If healthy, Woods is expected to be the team's fourth wideout.

  • Woods ended the 2023 regular season with 40 catches (on 75 targets) for 426 yards and one touchdown over 14 games. Woods was given heavy usage early in the season -- more than half of his targets came in the first five weeks -- but quarterback C.J. Stroud looked his way less often as the season wore on. Part of that was due to injuries, but it also was a reflection of improved production from Nico Collins and the emergence of rookie Tank Dell (lower leg). Woods had the worst statistical season of his 11-year career. Those developments and another turn around the sun -- Woods will be 32 next season -- suggest the Texans might move on from the veteran. Cutting Woods could save Houston $5 million in cap space.

  • Woods (hip) doesn't carry an injury designation ahead of Saturday's divisional-round game against the Ravens. Woods was deemed a limited practice participant Tuesday through Thursday, but the wideout nonetheless will be available Saturday. In the process, he should have a chance to reclaim a key role alongside top WR Nico Collins, with Noah Brown (shoulder) having landed on injured reserve earlier this week. In that context, John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson also are candidates to see added opportunities this weekend.
