• Texans' Danielle Hunter: Lands extension through 2026

  Hunter agreed Wednesday with the Texans on a one-year contract extension, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Hunter signed a two-year, $49 million deal with the Texans last offseason, so the extension will keep him on the books through 2026. In his first season with Houston, Hunter suited up for all 17 games during the regular season and both playoff contests, finishing with 53 tackles and 12.0 sacks. With the extension, Hunter will earn $35.6 million in new money and will get a $12.5 million raise for the 2025 season.

  Hunter finished the 2024 regular season with 46 total tackles (31 solo), including 12.0 sacks, while also adding three passes defensed and one forced fumble across 17 games. Hunter was signed by the Texans in March after eight years in Minnesota and he was once again a force to be reckoned with in 2024. The 30-year-old compiled at least 12.0 sacks for the fifth time in his career and second year in a row overall. He'll enter the 2025 campaign under contract for one more year with the Texans.

  Hunter logged seven tackles (six solo), with 3.0 sacks, during Houston's loss to the Titans on Sunday. Hunter had a dominant outing despite the loss as he recorded a season-high 3.0 sacks. The 30-year-old has now compiled 10.5 sacks on the campaign, marking the third straight season that he's racked up double-digit sacks and the sixth time total across his nine-year career.

  Hunter recorded three tackles (three solo) including 2.0 sacks and a pass defensed during Monday's 34-10 win at Dallas. Hunter had an even greater impact on the Texans' win in Week 11 than the box score would suggest, as he was able to turn the corner on right tackle Terence Steele time and time again Monday. He now has six sacks over his last six games and will look to keep up that pace in Week 12 versus the Titans.

  Hunter recorded two tackles (two solo) for 2.0 sacks during Sunday's 23-20 win versus the Colts. One of Hunter's two sacks Sunday came late in the fourth quarter on a third down to give Houston's offense the ball inside of the two-minute warning with a lead. It was his third game in a row with a sack, and he'll look to extend his streak in Week 9 against the Jets.
