Jackson (personal) will not travel with the Ravens to Pittsburgh and has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. It's been a bumpy last couple of weeks for Jackson, who was a healthy scratch in Week 9 against the Broncos after playing all 66 defensive snaps in Week 8 against the Browns, during which he logged a season-high 10 tackles (eight solo) and one pass defense. He returned for Week 10 against the Bengals, though he played just 14 snaps on defense and did not record a tackle. Jackson's next chance to suit up will be Week 11 against the Chargers on Monday, Nov. 25. Ar'Darius Washington will serve as the Ravens' primary backup at safety behind starters Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Williams.

Jackson (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's contest against Denver, Jonas Shaffer of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Jackson started and played every defensive snap last Sunday versus Cleveland, but he dropped multiple potential interceptions and was burned in coverage, leading to his inactive status this Sunday. Marcus Williams didn't see the field last week, but he's active against the Broncos and will presumably start at safety. The Ravens' secondary will also get a boost by the return of Marlon Humphrey, who sat out last week due to a knee injury.

Jackson recorded 10 tackles (six solo) and a pass defensed during Sunday's 29-24 loss at Cleveland. Jackson had rotated in and out of action for the entire year leading up to Week 8, but he was on the field for all of the Ravens' 66 defensive snaps Sunday, and he unsurprisingly set a new season high in the tackle department for himself. Whether he plays a similar role in Week 9 versus the Broncos might depend on the health of Marlon Humphrey (knee).

The Ravens signed Jackson to a one-year contract Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Chicago released Jackson back in February after his seventh season with the team, but he's now found another opportunity in Baltimore. Marcus Williams and 2022 first-rounder Kyle Hamilton should retain their spots in the Ravens' starting lineup to begin the year, but Jackson could eventually push his way onto the field if he can stay healthy.

Jackson was released by the Bears on Thursday. Jackson posted a career-low 37 total tackles in 2023, his seventh NFL season, all with Chicago. The 30-year-old made the Pro Bowl in 2018 and 2019 and was well on his way to another successful season in 2022 before suffering a season-ending foot injury Week 12. The veteran safety will now have an opportunity to seek a career resurgence elsewhere ahead of the 2024 season.
