Sorensen signed a contract with the Saints on Friday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Sorensen spent his first eight seasons in the NFL with the Chiefs and finished the 2021 campaign with 51 tackles, eight pass deflections, two interceptions and one sack across 17 appearances. The Saints also signed Marcus Maye (Achilles) this offseason in an attempt to replace Marcus Williams; however, if Maye isn't fully cleared by Week 1, Sorensen figures to be the next man up.

Sorensen had nine solo tackles during Kansas City's win over Philadelphia in Week 4. Sorensen has had a productive three weeks in terms of stops, bringing him up to 23 tackles on the year. The veteran safety also has one sack and one pass breakup. Given his near every-down workload, Sorensen will be in the mix as a fairly high upside IDP asset during Week 5's matchup against the Bills.

Sorensen had seven tackles (four solo) during Sunday's 33-27 win over the Chiefs. The 30-year-old played every defensive snap for the fifth straight contest as he continues to play a significant role in the secondary. Sorensen has 80 tackles (59 solo), three interceptions, two forced fumbles and one touchdown this season.

Sorensen racked up eight tackles and his first interception of the 2019 season Monday versus the Chargers. Although he's not officially a starter at safety, Sorensen played the third-most defensive snaps Monday behind just Juan Thornhill and Tyrann Mathieu, the other two safeties. Sorensen's snap count has seen a significant rise over the last two weeks and has corresponded with a major jump in his tackle totals. He could move into borderline IDP status should he retain a large share of snaps out of the bye week.

Sorensen is expected to start at strong safety in Sunday's game versus the Ravens, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports. Sorensen will be in his fourth game back since returning from a leg injury. He's been eased into action up until now, as he took starter snaps instead of Eric Murray during warmups. Nevertheless, both Sorensen and Murray will likely lose playing time once Eric Berry (heel) is healthy again.
