Samuel caught one of two targets for three yards in Thursday's 31-10 win over Miami. Samuel has just four targets through two games. His lack of involvement could be due to the lingering effects of a turf toe injury he had heading into the season, though that hasn't affected Samuel's practice reps. Regardless of the cause, Samuel's modest role thus far will make him tough to trust Week 3 against the Jaguars.

Samuel reeled in both of his targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 34-28 win over the Cardinals. Samuel operated as the Bills' fourth wide receiver Sunday, playing just 17 of Buffalo's 62 offensive snaps behind Keon Coleman (45), Mack Hollins (36) and Khalil Shakir (33). The first look at the receiving corps in Buffalo provided some clarity as to how Samuel could be deployed in the offense, as the 28-year-old was minimally involved despite the Bills finding themselves in a pass-heavy game script for much of the contest. Samuel will look to get more involved in Week 2 when the Bills visit the Dolphins.

Samuel (toe) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Samuel has been dealing with turf toe, but he never seemed to be in any danger of sitting out the regular-season opener, as he was a full participant in all three of Buffalo's practices during the week. He'll make his Bills debut as part of a remade receiving corps vying for the attention of star quarterback Josh Allen. Khalil Shakir and rookie Keon Coleman also are expected to play prominent roles, with Mack Hollins and Marquez Valdes-Scantling on hand for depth.

Samuel (toe) is scheduled to be a full practice participant Wednesday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Samuel has been dealing with turf toe, but the wideout's looming return to full practice Wednesday has him on track to be available for Sunday's season opener against the Cardinals. Samuel thus appears set to claim a key role in a retooled Buffalo receiver corps that also includes Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Mack Hollins and Marquez Valdes-Scantling (neck). With Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis no longer in the mix, targets are up for grabs in the Bills offense, and beginning in Week 1, the versatile Samuel -- who may also see occasional carries out of the backfield -- will have an opportunity to claim his share of them.

Samuel will hopefully be ready for Week 1 after dealing with turf toe in training camp, and we'll see how his role is defined along with Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir. I like those two better than Samuel, but he has a history with offensive coordinator Joe Brady from their time in Carolina. Samuel can also get carries in the backfield, and he's a good stash candidate.
