  • Njoku secured five of seven targets for 29 yards in the Browns' 27-10 loss to the Chargers on Sunday. Njoku was third on the Browns in both receptions and targets, but that equated to very modest production yardage-wise on an afternoon during which Jameis Winston was harassed by the Chargers defense to the tune of six sacks and three interceptions. Njoku does have at least five catches in four consecutive games, and he and Winston should benefit from a more palatable matchup in a Week 11 visit to the Saints following a Week 10 bye.

  • Browns' David Njoku: Back at practice
    By RotoWire

Njoku (ankle/hand) returned to practice Friday, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Njoku didn't practice Thursday, so his return to the field a day later bodes well for his chances of playing Sunday against the Chargers. If the tight end is able to work fully Friday, he could head into the weekend without a Week 9 injury designation.

  • Njoku (ankle) missed practice Thursday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Njoku practiced fully Wednesday, so his addition to the Browns' injury report a day later is notable. As Cabot notes, the tight end dealt with an ankle issue earlier this season, but it's unclear at this stage if his absence from Thursday's session is maintenance-related or indicative of a setback. Look for added context on that front to arrive no later than Friday, when the Browns practice again.

  • Njoku recorded five receptions on seven targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 29-24 win over the Ravens. Njoku remained heavily involved in the offense, drawing at least seven targets for the third straight game. He did the majority of his damage against the Ravens on a pair of long grabs, the first being a 20-yard gain midway through the first quarter and the latter a 23-yard touchdown catch two quarters later. Njoku has a consistent role in the Cleveland offense and has shown improved efficiency with Jameis Winston under center, signaling the potential for a very productive second half of the season.

No Amari Cooper, and likely the loss of Deshaun Watson (Achilles), should be good for Njoku in Week 8 and moving forward. In the first game without Cooper in Week 7 against Cincinnati, Njoku had 10 catches for 76 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets. Jameis Winston, who is starting for Watson in Week 8, should continue to lean on Njoku against Baltimore, and I like Njoku as a top-five tight end in all leagues.
