The Chargers waived Freeman from the practice squad Tuesday. The running back was not elevated for a game in his 15-day tenure on the practice squad. In a corresponding move, the Chargers signed safety Marcus Maye to the practice squad. Freeman will now be placed on waivers and will become a free agent if he clears.

Freeman signed with the Chargers' practice squad Monday. Freeman spent five days with the Bears back in August but was cut ahead of Week 1. The 29-year-old running back hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since 2023 with the Rams.

The Bears released Freeman on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Freeman was signed ahead of the Bears' final preseason game, and he rushed five times for 22 yards on 13 offensive snaps in the exhibition finale. The 29-year-old will head back to free agency.

The Bears signed Freeman to a contract Wednesday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports. Freeman will take the spot on the Bears' roster vacated by Deion Hankins, who was placed on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury that he picked up during Sunday's preseason game against the Bills. Freeman was on the practice squads of the Rams, Bears and Browns in 2024, and last saw regular-season action in 2023 with the Rams, when he rushed for 319 yards and a touchdown on 77 carries across 14 games.

He wasn't elevated to the active roster, and the veteran running back will now explore his options on the open market. Freeman played in 14 regular-season games for the Rams in 2023 and turned 77 carries into 319 yards and two touchdowns.
