Mahomes completed 18 of 25 passes for 151 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 26-25 win over the Bengals. He added four rushing attempts for 29 yards. Mahomes threw a perfect pass down the sideline for a 44-yard Rashee Rice touchdown in the second quarter, and he added a one-yard touchdown pass to backup left tackle Wanya Morris as the Chiefs reached into their bag of tricks in the third. Despite doing just enough to get his team to 2-0 heading into Week 3 against the Falcons thanks to a game-winning 51-yard Harrison Butker field goal on the game's final play, Mahomes has some errors to clean up. Mahomes was picked off in the first quarter and again in the third, with the latter coming soon after a would-be interception was taken off the board by a penalty. Kansas City also caught a couple bad breaks before a defensive pass interference penalty set up the game-winning field goal, as Mahomes had fourth-quarter completions of 41 yards to Travis Kelce and 21 yards to Rice erased by penalties to suppress the star quarterback's stat line.

Mahomes completed 20 of 28 passes for 291 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the Chiefs' 27-20 win over the Ravens on Thursday night. He also rushed twice for three yards and was credited with a two-yard reception of his own deflected pass. Mahomes put together a signature performance that saw him distribute the ball to seven different targets. The perennial Pro Bowler clicked most frequently with top wideout Rashee Rice, who brought in seven of Mahomes' completions for 103 yards. Mahomes' one scoring toss went to speedy first-round pick Xavier Worthy, who brought in a 35-yard dart early in the fourth quarter that gave Kansas City some valuable breathing room. Mahomes' impressive yardage total and efficiency notably came with Travis Kelce recording only three receptions and Marquise Brown missing the game with his shoulder injury, supporting the notion the two-time MVP could be in store for another prolific season. Mahomes' and the Chiefs' next assignment is a marquee Week 2 home showdown against the Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 15.

Mahomes completed eight of 14 passes for 93 yards against Detroit on Saturday. Mahomes played the first two drives of the preseason game, with most of the Chiefs first-string offense playing with him. The absence of Marquise Brown (shoulder) allowed Mahomes to work extensively with first-round pick rookie Xavier Worthy, who drew five of Mahomes' targets (though Worthy's 22-yard touchdown would come with Carson Wentz at quarterback). Mahomes even made waves by completing a behind-the-back screen pass to Travis Kelce for eight yards. Mahomes is likely the top player in the NFL and doesn't need new tricks to dominate, but he's apparently been working on some anyway.

Mahomes completed three of four passes for 27 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the Chiefs' 26-13 preseason loss to the Jaguars on Saturday night. Mahomes played on the Chiefs' opening possession, which lasted seven plays and culminated in a field goal. The multi-time MVP had a pair of completions totaling 20 yards to Marquise Brown (shoulder) and Isiah Pacheco on the first two plays and connected with Travis Kelce for seven yards on his third and final completion. Mahomes and his starting offense appear to already be in solid form, and it remains to be seen if they'll log at least a quarter in next Saturday afternoon's home exhibition against the Lions.

Head coach Andy Reid said Mahomes and other starters will play the first quarter of Saturday's preseason game against Jacksonville, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports. Reid has long given his starters more preseason reps than most other teams do, including superstars like Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce. It'll be the first chance in a game setting for Mahomes to connect with new Chiefs wide receivers Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy.
