  Mahomes (knee) continues to aim to be ready for the Chiefs' regular-season opener against the Broncos on Monday, Sept. 14, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports. "That's my goal," Mahomes noted Wednesday during an interview with Yahoo Sports. "I've said that since the beginning is being ready to go Week 1. I can't predict the future, and I know that it's a long process. It's not just my decision, but at the same time I'm going to give the doctors and the coaches every single opportunity I can to let me be out there Week 1." With that in mind, Nate Taylor of ESPN.com relayed last month that coach Andy Reid said Mahomes (knee) should "be able to do some things in camp," with added context on that front set to arrive after the Chiefs' veterans report on July 28. Mahomes -- who is bouncing back from a torn ACL and LCL suffered Week 15 of last season -- participated in offseason workouts but was held out of full-team drills.

  Mahomes (ACL) and Kansas City agreed to terms Wednesday on a deal that amends two additional years to his contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Mahomes' new deal keeps him under contract with the Chiefs through the 2033 season and carries a total value of $504.75 million, providing the 30-year-old quarterback an average salary of $64 million per season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Per Pete Sweeney of the Kansas City Star, Mahomes continued to participate in 7-on-7 drills at mandatory minicamp this week while rehabbing from a torn ACL and LCL suffered in Week 15 of last season, but he remained sidelined during 11-on-11 drills. It remains to be seen when Mahomes will be cleared to resume handling full-team reps, but by all accounts his offseason recovery continues to proceed on schedule.

  Mahomes (knee) participated in Kansas City's opening OTA practice Tuesday, Nate Taylor of ESPN reports. While the extent of his participation wasn't revealed, a video was posted on social media of the QB making a throw on the field while sporting a brace on his left knee. Mahomes is bouncing back from December surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL, and his participation in Tuesday's session, in any capacity, is encouraging. The two-time MVP's stated goal is to be ready for Week 1 action, and in recent weeks Kansas City has expressed optimism that Mahomes will be in uniform Sept. 14 against the Broncos.
