Ward no longer has a designation for Sunday's game against the Chargers after clearing concussion protocol. Ward suffered the sixth documented concussion of his NFL career during the Browns' Week 8 win over the Ravens. He opened the week with consecutive absences from practice, but he managed to return to practice Friday in a limited capacity. Despite not logging a full practice this week, Ward was able to gain clearance from an independent neurologist and has now exited the five-step protocol. Through the first eight games of the season, Ward has tallied 15 tackles (13 solo) and 13 pass breakups.

Ward (concussion) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Chargers, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. Ward upgraded to a limited session Friday after logging back-to-back DNPs to begin the Browns' week of practice, giving himself a chance to suit up Sunday. The Ohio State product must still clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in order to play in Week 9. If he's unable to do so, Cameron Mitchell will likely see increased work with the Browns' first-team secondary.

Ward (concussion) was listed as a DNP on the Browns' injury report Wednesday, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Ward was diagnosed with a concussion following the Browns' Week 8 win over the Ravens. It was the second time he's been diagnosed with a concussion this season and the sixth time in his NFL career, though Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Wednesday that Ward is considered day-to-day. Even if Ward were to return to practice this week, it's no guarantee that he'll be able to pass the league's five-step concussion protocols ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers.

Ward (concussion) is considered day-to-day ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Despite Ward suffering his second concussion this season in Week 8 against the Ravens, it appears the Ohio State product may be making quick progress through the league's five-step protocols. His status for Week 9, however, likely won't be known until closer to kickoff Sunday.

Ward has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Ravens and is being evaluated for a concussion, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports. Ward will continue to be evaluated for a concussion, and if that is indeed the diagnosis, he could be in jeopardy of missing the Browns' Week 9 contest against the Chargers on Sunday, Nov. 3. Cameron Mitchell and Mike Ford are candidates to see more snaps with the first-team defense for the rest of Sunday's game.
