Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Greenlaw (Achilles) is not expected to be ready to return from the PUP list until a few weeks after the 49ers' Week 9 bye, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. The linebacker tore his left Achilles' tendon last February in the 49ers' Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs, which means he is roughly eight months removed from the injury. San Francisco will play the Buccaneers on Nov. 10 and Seahawks on Nov. 17 after its bye week, but at this stage, Greenlaw doesn't look to be trending toward a return for either of those contests.

Greenlaw is still recovering from surgery to address the torn left Achilles' tendon he suffered during the 49ers' loss in the Super Bowl back in February. He has yet to resume practicing and remains without a concrete timetable for his return. Greenlaw was a standout performer at linebacker for the 49ers in 2023, logging 120 tackles, 1.5 sacks and four pass breakups.

Greenlaw (Achilles) was placed on the reserve/PUP list Tuesday. Greenlaw is recovering from a Achilles' injury sustained during the Super Bowl loss the Chiefs in February. The 27-year-old did not practice during training camp while on the active/PUP list, and he'll now be forced to miss the first four games of the regular season as he continues recovering. Greenlaw's first chance to return will come against the Cardinals on Sunday, Oct. 6. In the meantime, expect De'Vondre Campbell and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles to fill in alongside star middle linebacker Fred Warner (foot).
