Greenlaw (Achilles) could be designated for return from injured reserve and resume practicing this week, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports. Greenlaw is in the final stages of his recovery from a torn left Achilles' tendon that he suffered in February during the 49ers' Super Bowl LVIII loss to the Chiefs. General manager John Lynch said Monday that Greenlaw will need to practice for a few weeks before being added back to the 53-man roster, per Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. While Greenlaw won't be guaranteed to be ready for game action whenever his 21-day evaluation window comes to an end, it's a good sign that the veteran linebacker is ready to take the next step in his recovery program.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that he "doesn't expect" to open the 21-day practice window for Greenlaw (Achilles) this week, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. Greenlaw is working his way back from a torn left Achilles that he suffered in San Francisco's Super Bowl loss to Kansas City in February, which caused him to open the season on the reserve/PUP list. He's made progress through the injury, but not enough to have his 21-day window to return from IR open this week.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Greenlaw (Achilles) is not expected to be ready to return from the PUP list until a few weeks after the 49ers' Week 9 bye, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. The linebacker tore his left Achilles' tendon last February in the 49ers' Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs, which means he is roughly eight months removed from the injury. San Francisco will play the Buccaneers on Nov. 10 and Seahawks on Nov. 17 after its bye week, but at this stage, Greenlaw doesn't look to be trending toward a return for either of those contests.

Greenlaw (Achilles) is shooting to be ready for the start of the season, according to GM John Lynch, but he may need to start the season on the PUP list, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Greenlaw had surgery days after the Super Bowl to repair a torn left Achilles tendon he suffered during the game. How likely it is the Arkansas product will be ready Week 1 likely won't be known until the team arrives for training camp in late July.

Greenlaw had successful surgery to repair his torn Achilles on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Greenlaw suffered the injury during the Super Bowl and now will face a lengthy recovery. He is expected to return to full strength, but he could miss a good portion of the 2024 season as a result. A clearer timeline should emerge throughout the offseason.
