The Chargers signed Dye (wrist) to a one-year deal Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Dye has found a new home in Los Angeles after spending the first four years of his NFL career in Minnesota. According to Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the Vikings offered Dye more money than the Chargers, but Los Angeles sold the 27-year-old linebacker on "the chance to start." Dye has been a core special teamer for the Vikings over the past four seasons, recording 80 total tackles in 60 games, and he'll have the opportunity to compete for a large role with the Chargers this offseason.

The Vikings placed Dye (wrist) on injured reserve Saturday. Dye is dealing with a wrist injury that will put an end to his regular season. The fourth-year linebacker began the campaign working almost exclusively on special teams before moving into a more prominent role after Jordan Hicks went on IR with a shin injury after Week 10. With Hicks now back in action, Dye's move to IR shouldn't have a big impact on Minnesota's defensive gameplan. Dye finishes the regular season with 17 tackles (11 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and a forced fumble. He isn't eligible to return unless the Vikings advance to the NFC Championship Game.

Dye didn't record a tackle and played all 17 snaps on special teams in Sunday's win over Green Bay. Dye started a game at linebacker last season, but he'll be limited to mostly special teams as long as Eric Kendricks and Jordan Hicks are healthy.

Dye (foot) was not on the injury report Wednesday and will play Sunday against the Packers, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports. Dye suffered the injury during the teams preseason finale against the Broncos. His availability will help bolster the Vikings' linebacker depth Sunday against the Packers.

Dye will start at middle linebacker Sunday against the Bears, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Eric Kendricks (illness) remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list, leaving a large gap in the middle of the Vikings' defense. Dye will step up after playing nearly exclusively on special teams this season, as he's logged only 31 defensive snaps through 16 games. He enters Sunday's matchup against the Bears having recorded 15 total tackles.
