Funk was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for each of the Jaguars' last two games, but he did not play a snap in each of those contests. The 2021 seventh-round draft pick will explore his next options and look to join a team in need of backfield depth.

Funk reverted to the Jaguars' practice squad Monday. Funk was elevated ahead of Sunday's matchup versus the Patriots to provide extra depth as Travis Etienne was sidelined with a hamstring injury. However, Funk ended up not seeing any playing time, with Tank Bigsby and D'Ernest Johnson handling all the snaps at running back.

The Jaguars elevated Funk from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday. Funk was unable to make the Lions' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he managed to catch on with the Jaguars' practice squad Oct. 1. His elevation to the active roster gives the Jags some insurance in the backfield in case Travis Etienne (hamstring) cannot play Sunday against the Patriots. If Etienne is inactive, Funk would serve as Jacksonville's No. 3 running back behind Tank Bigsby and D'Ernest Johnson.

Funk signed with the Jaguars' practice squad Tuesday. Funk spent training camp with the Lions but wasn't able to secure a 53-man roster spot. He's been a free agent since, but he'll now have a chance to make an impression in Jacksonville. In a corresponding move, the Jaguars cut fellow running back Jalen Jackson from the practice squad.
