Okwuegbunam reverted to the Raiders' practice squad Monday. Okwuegbunam was elevated to the Raiders' active roster for a second straight game in Sunday's 40-6 loss to the colts. He didn't end up playing in the Week 4 loss to the Bears, but he saw the field for 31 offensive snaps Sunday due to the absences of Brock Bowers (knee) and Michael Mayer (concussion) at tight end. Okwuegbunam took advantage of the additional playing time, finishing the Week 5 loss with five catches (on six targets) for 36 yards. Okwuegbunam would be in line to be elevated to Las Vegas' active roster for Week 6 against the Titans if one or both of Bowers and Mayer aren't cleared to play.

The Raiders elevated Okwuegbunam from their practice squad Saturday ahead of Sunday's matchup versus the Colts. Okwuegbunam will provide extra depth at tight end, as Michael Mayer (concussion) isn't expected to play, and Brock Bowers (knee) is also dealing with an injury. This is the second straight week the team has elevated Okwuegbunam, although he didn't see the field during last week's loss versus the Bears.

Although Okwuegbunam was active for the game, he did not play a single snap as Brock Bowers and Ian Thomas handled all the snaps on offense. Okwuegbunam is eligible to be elevated to the active roster two more times this season.

Las Vegas signed Okwuegbunam to its practice squad Wednesday. Okwuegbunam was a casualty of cutdown day Tuesday but will remain with Las Vegas. The veteran tight end hasn't logged a regular-season NFL snap since he played in four games with Philadelphia in 2023.

The Raiders released Okwuegbunam on Tuesday. Okwuegbunam caught on with the Raiders in early August after being let go by the Colts on July 31, and across Las Vegas' three preseason games he logged three catches (on five targets) for 24 yards. The 2020 fourth-rounder wasn't able to grab a spot on the Raiders' 53-man roster, but he could stay in Las Vegas as a member of the team's practice squad.
