  Toney was arrested Feb. 6 in Douglas County, Ga. on counts of aggravated assault and obstructing/harassing 911 calls, ESPN.com reports. The charges stem from an alleged altercation that occurred Jan. 14, resulting in warrants for Toney's arrest being issued a day later. The 26-year-old remains a free agent after having been released by the Browns in December. He appeared in three games with Cleveland in 2024, rushing twice for minus-4 yards and bringing back four punts for 44 yards while muffing another punt.

  The Browns waived Toney on Tuesday, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports. Toney was signed to the active roster ahead of the Browns' Week 14 loss to the Steelers. During the fourth quarter of the 27-14 loss, Toney picked up a taunting penalty on one punt return and muffed another, events that likely were a factor in the Browns' decision to part ways with the 25-year-old wide receiver. In three games for Cleveland, Toney had one target, two rushes for minus-4 yards and 44 yards in punt returns.

  Cleveland signed Toney from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Toney had been elevated from the Browns' practice squad to the active roster twice this season, with his latest outing taking place in Week 13 against the Broncos, when he turned his lone carry into three yards. Toney gives the Browns much needed depth at wide receiver for Sunday's game against the Steelers, as Cedric Tillman (concussion) has been ruled out and Jamari Thrash (shoulder) is listed as questionable.

The 2021 first-round pick from Florida's elevation to the active roster ensures depth at wide receiver, with Cedric Tillman (concussion) in line to miss his second consecutive game in Monday night's matchup against the Broncos. Toney has appeared in one game for the Browns this season, playing five offensive snaps and taking one carry for minus-7 yards.
