Brown (foot) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Patriots, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Brown is now in line to miss his second consecutive game in Week 2 as he recovers from the foot injury he sustained in mid-August. Expect AJ Barner to continue serving as Seattle's No. 2 tight end until Brown has recovered enough to make his Seahawks debut.

Brown (foot) was a limited participant at the Seahawks' practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Brown was forced to miss the team's Week 1 win over the Broncos as a result of the foot injury he suffered in mid-August. The tight end's return to practice Wednesday is a step in the right direction and he'll look to log a full practice at one of Seattle's final two sessions of the week before Sunday's matchup with the Patriots.

Brown (foot) was absent from Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Brown has now logged back-to-back DNP's to start the week. He has one more chance Friday to practice in some capacity ahead of Sunday's regular-season opener against the Broncos. If Brown were to be ruled out for Week 1, Brady Russell and AJ Barner would be in line for more backup tight-end snaps behind starter Noah Fant (toe).

Brown (foot) is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Brown received a second opinion on the foot injury he suffered last week and is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. If the 30-year-old however ends up taking more time to recover, Tyler Mabry and Brady Russell could be in line for expanded roles.

Brown finished the 2023 season with 13 catches (on 15 targets) for 208 yards and a touchdown in 17 games with the Patriots. Brown, who turns 30 in May, carved out a niche in the Patriots offense this past season alongside fellow TEs Hunter Henry and Mike Gesicki, making his mark as a run blocker, while also logging six receptions that resulted in 15-plus yard gains, per Evan Lazar of the team's official site. Brown is slated to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason and should be able to land another opportunity to work in a complementary role in 2024, be it in New England or elsewhere.
