  • As the 2026 season approaches, Jefferson's status as the Vikings' top pass catcher is secure, but it remains to be seen who will be throwing him the ball come Week 1. Former Cardinal Kyler Murray was brought in to compete with J.J. McCarthy, and according to coach Kevin O'Connell, it's possible that the team's looming QB competition could extend into the preseason, Kevin Seifert of ESPN reports. Murray, the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, is viewed as the favorite to win the job, and if that ends up being the outcome, he'd be Minnesota's fourth different Week 1 starter in the past four seasons. Subpar QB play hampered Jefferson's fantasy upside in 2025, but if Murray seizes the top job and engineers a bounce-back season of his own in the process, the four-time Pro Bowler stands to benefit.

  • Jefferson agreed to terms Friday on a contract restructure that frees up salary cap space for the Vikings, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Jefferson and left tackle Christian Darrisaw (knee) both agreed to restructures Friday, helping Minnesota achieve a more manageable salary cap situation ahead of the start of the legal tampering period on Monday. The star wide receiver, who will turn 27 in June, will likely spend the offseason focusing on building an increased rapport with quarterback J.J. McCarthy (hand), after the two struggled to get on the same page throughout the 2025 campaign. The Vikings have also been linked to numerous quarterbacks expected to be available in free agency as potential added competition for McCarthy.

  • Jefferson caught eight of 11 targets for 101 yards in Sunday's 16-3 win over the Packers. Jefferson endured a tough season due to the Vikings' issues at quarterback, but with his first 100-yard performance since Week 5, the superstar wideout was able to record his sixth straight 1,000-yard campaign to begin his career. Jefferson wraps up the season with an 84-1,048-2 line on 141 targets, the worst yardage and touchdown totals of his career. One of Minnesota's biggest priorities this offseason will be finding a way to build chemistry between J.J. McCarthy (hand) and his most talented target.

  • Jefferson caught four of five targets for 30 yards in the Vikings' 23-10 win over the Lions on Christmas Day. Despite the limited production, Jefferson actually led Minnesota in catches, targets and receiving yards on a day in which rookie QB Max Brosmer threw for just 51 yards. The Vikings' issues under center have ruined Jefferson's season, and he still needs 53 more yards -- a mark he's failed to reach in five of the last six games -- to record his sixth straight 1,000-yard campaign. If J.J. McCarthy (hand) is able to suit up Week 18 against the Packers, Jefferson's odds of keeping his streak alive might be slightly improved.

  • Vikings' Justin Jefferson: Bust Alert (Start/Sit)
    By Jamey Eisenberg

It's been a frustrating season for Jefferson and his Fantasy managers, and it will be tough to trust him in most two-receiver leagues in Week 17 against Detroit. Even though the matchup is favorable since the Lions are No. 2 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers, we've seen Jefferson struggle in these scenarios already, with 3.1 PPR points against Washington in Week 14 and 4.2 PPR points in Week 15 at Dallas. Max Brosmer is also starting for the Vikings in place of J.J. McCarthy (hand), and Jefferson had two catches for 4 yards on six targets in Brosmer's last start in Week 13 at Seattle. Jefferson should perform better against Detroit, and he had six catches for 47 yards and a touchdown on nine targets against the Lions in Week 9. But I would only use Jefferson in three-receiver leagues in Week 17.
