  Tate caught four of six targets for 38 yards in Sunday's 23-10 loss to the Jets. Tate tied Wan'Dale Robinson for the team lead in receiving yards and targets, but Tennessee's entire passing game struggled as Cam Ward threw for a mere 140 yards. The Titans overhauled their wide receiver room by drafting Tate fourth overall out of Ohio State and signing Robinson to a four-year, $78 million contract in the offseason, but the results Sunday didn't look much different compared to the team that went 3-14 last season. Tate should continue to function as one of Ward's top targets in Week 2 against a stout Eagles secondary.

  Tate has the chance to be a standout receiver in Fantasy and reality, but let him prove himself first. He should only be started in three-receiver leagues in his first NFL start against the Jets. It was a rough preseason for the Titans and Tate, who played 38 snaps in three exhibition games but failed to catch a pass on six targets. It's a small sample size, and Tate could easily perform well against the Jets. Cam Ward will hopefully rely on Tate, but I could see Wan'Dale Robinson having a better game in this matchup. I'm hopeful Tate gets off to a good start in his rookie campaign, but I don't want to trust him yet as a starter in most Fantasy leagues.

The rookie had been dealing with some stiffness late in the preseason but seems to be trending in the right direction as the Titans' season-opener approaches. Official word on whether Tate was a full or limited participant will come after the Titans release their practice report later Wednesday afternoon.

  Coach Robert Saleh said Tate (undisclosed) missed Tuesday's practice due to some "stiffness," Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. There's been no indication the first-round rookie wideout's status for Week 1 against the Jets is in any sort of danger. Tate played 38 offensive snaps during the preseason but failed to catch any of his six targets across the three exhibition contests. He's expected to serve as Cam Ward's top downfield weapon this season with slot man Wan'Dale Robinson (head) handling underneath routes, though Calvin Ridley is still in the mix at the position. There could be growing pains for Tate in 2026 in what is expected to be one of the lowest-scoring offenses in the league.
