• 49ers' Mason Pline: Signs reserve/future deal

  The 49ers signed Pline (undisclosed) to a reserve/future contract Monday. Pline first latched on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in May. He was waived just before the start of the regular season but then rejoined the organization as part of the practice squad. Pline was placed on the practice-squad injured list due to an undisclosed issue in mid-December but now appears to be past that issue. He'll have the opportunity to compete for a roster spot during training camp next summer.

  Pline (undisclosed) was placed on the 49ers' practice squad reserve/injured list Tuesday. Pline has spent the entire 2024 campaign on the 49ers' practice squad and he'll now be forced to miss the remainder of the regular season with an undisclosed injury. The tight end signed with San Francisco in May as an undrafted free agent after ending his collegiate career with Furman and he'll now have to wait until at least 2025 to make his NFL debut.

  Pline was waived by the 49ers on Tuesday. Pline joined the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Furman, but he was released along with fellow tight ends Logan Thomas and Eric Saubert as part of the team's final roster cuts Tuesday. With these three gone, Jake Tonges is currently set to serve as the lone backup behind starter George Kittle. Pline will now be subject to waivers, and, if he goes unclaimed, he'll be free to sign elsewhere ahead of the regular season.
