White was outplayed and played fewer snaps than Alexander Mattison in Week 1 against the Chargers, and that's alarming this early in the season. White had 13 carries for 44 yards and two catches for 2 yards on two targets, while Mattison had five carries for 19 yards and four catches for 43 yards, and a touchdown on six targets. Mattison also played 60 percent of the snaps compared to 38 percent for White, and we'll see what happens in Week 2 at Baltimore. Given the likely game script of the Raiders playing from behind, White will be tough to trust in this matchup.

White gained 44 yards on 13 carries in Sunday's 22-10 loss to the Chargers. He added two receptions for two yards and also lost a fumble. White out-carried Alexander Mattison by a 13-4 margin, though he found running room hard to come by as he picked up only six yards on his first six carries. While his results improved mildly from there, he also lost a fumble early in the second half. White will likely continue to lead the Raiders in carries on early downs, though Mattison was targeted six times and caught a touchdown for the team's only trip to the end zone on the day.

This should be an improved Chargers defense this season, but White played Los Angeles last year in Week 15 and scored a season-high 17.5 PPR points. He had 17 carries for 69 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 16 yards. I'm hopeful White gets 20 total touches again, and he should be the lead running back for the Raiders in Week 1 and all year. I expect White to finish as a top-20 running back in all leagues in this matchup.

White rushed four times for 23 yards and failed to bring in his only target in the Raiders' 27-12 preseason loss to the Cowboys on Saturday night. White drew the start and put together what appears to be a fine rushing line on the surface, but it's worth noting 17 of his yards came on his first carry. Nevertheless, the third-year back is primed to open the season as the Raiders' No. 1 option in the ground game, though offseason addition Alexander Mattison is talented enough to serve as a threat if White struggles in the role.
