  Levis (shoulder) was placed on IR by the Titans on Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports. The move comes as no surprise, following Monday's news that Levis had elected to have season-ending surgery on his right shoulder. In his absence, this year's No. 1 overall pick, Cameron Ward, is poised to handle the bulk first-team QB reps in training camp practices as the Titans prepare him to be their starter in Week 1, per Wyatt.

  Levis will soon have season-ending surgery for a shoulder injury that he initially sustained early in the 2024 campaign, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Levis aggravated the injury later in the 2024 season and then apparently dealt with discomfort this spring/summer. With his shoulder still not right at the start of training camp, he's opting for surgery and hoping to return for 2026, at which point he'll be in the final year of his rookie contract. The Titans are left with Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle as the backup QB options on their current roster behind presumed starter and No. 1 overall pick Cameron Ward.

• Titans' Will Levis: Trade coming soon?

  Levis is a candidate to be traded after Tennessee drafted fellow quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall Thursday night, KLTV's Terry McCormick reports. The pick was expected for some time beforehand, and the Titans likely would've already moved Levis if they got an offer for something like a mid-round pick. The question now is whether they'll trade him for less than that, creating a fresh start for both parties after back-to-back disastrous seasons for the Tennessee offense since Levis was taken 33rd overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. Levis turns 26 in June and hasn't shown much on the field that hints at developing into a legitimate NFL starter, but he does have a strong arm, decent mobility and a prototypical build (6-foot-4, 229 pounds).

  Head coach Brian Callahan relayed Friday that Levis will start Sunday's season finale against the Texans, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. Per Wyatt, Callahan said that fellow QB Mason Rudolph also will play in Sunday's contest. Of the two, however, Levis profiles as the higher-percentage Week 18 fantasy dart, with Turron Davenport of ESPN.com and John Glennon of NashvillePost.com suggesting that if Levis plays well Sunday, the snap share could tilt in his favor.
