Ford rushed the ball seven times for 64 yards in Sunday's 18-13 win over Jacksonville. He added one reception on two targets for zero yards. Ford led Cleveland's backfield in Week 1 but was surprisingly limited against Jacksonville and was out-touched 15-8 by D'Onta Foreman. Game script likely had something to do with it, as Ford had one more opportunity than Foreman at halftime, but Cleveland was ahead by two possessions for a lengthy portion of the second half. Positively, Ford had two of the Browns' biggest gains with rushes of 36 and 12 yards. That efficiency combined with a lack of depth -- Pierre Strong (hamstring) exited Sunday's game -- should keep Ford in the mix for touches every week, though his volume could remain volatile.

Ford dominated playing time and touches for the Browns in Week 1 against Dallas, and he finished with 12 carries for 44 yards and a touchdown and caught six passes for 25 yards on seven targets. His role in the passing game should matter in Week 2 against the Jaguars, who allowed De'Von Achane and Raheem Mostert to catch nine passes for 86 yards on 10 targets. Ford should again flirt with 20 total touches this week, and he should be considered a solid No. 2 Fantasy running back in all leagues.

Ford saw 18 touches in a game the Browns were playing from behind. I expect they'll be more competitive against Jacksonville and I expect Ford will top 20 touches. He's a top-12 back for me this week and he's priced like a number three. Don't be surprised if David Njoku's absence means more targets for Ford, who caught six of seven targets in Week 1.

Ford rushed the ball 12 times for 44 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-17 loss to the Cowboys. He added six receptions on seven targets for 25 yards. Ford unsurprisingly served as Cleveland's lead back but saw his volume on the ground limited by the game script. He made up for that with a garbage-time touchdown with 29 seconds remaining and also had strong involvement as a pass catcher. While Deshaun Watson made things difficult for the majority of the Browns' skill-position players, Ford was a beneficiary as a regular dump-off option. So long as Nick Chubb (knee) is sidelined, Ford should be capable of putting together similar results moving forward.
-
Ford will be the lead running back for the Browns with Nick Chubb (knee) out, and he performed at a high level in this role in 2023. From Week 2 when Chubb got hurt, Ford scored at least 11.1 PPR points in 11 of his next 15 games, including five outings with at least 14.2 PPR points. Dallas has a tough run defense, but four running backs in a row scored at least 12 PPR points against the Cowboys to end the regular season. Ford is worth using as a flex in all leagues in Week 1.
