Rice (knee) has been released from Dallas County Jail on Tuesday after serving his 30-day sentence for violating probation with a positive THC test, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Kansas City head coach Andy Reid said last Thursday that he expects Rice to be ready for the start of training camp in July. The fourth-year wide receiver is recovering from a minor clean-up surgery undergone in May on his right knee, and while in jail he was able to both rehab and maintain communication with the team. He was unable to attend mandatory minicamp, however. It's possible that Rice could still face league discipline as a result of his probation violation, but he appears on track to be fully healthy in advance of the regular season.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters Thursday that he thinks Rice (knee) will be ready for the start of training camp, Nate Taylor of ESPN.com reports. "I think [Rice] will be," Reid said. "He gets out [of jail] next week. We'll see where it goes. He'll be back up here and working." Rice is recovering from arthroscopic surgery in a Dallas County jail, with a scheduled release date of June 16 (Tuesday). He had the minor procedure in May to remove loose debris from his right knee, shortly before he was sentenced to 30 days in jail for violating probation with a positive THC test. The Chiefs seemingly expect Rice to be back at full strength before Week 1, but there is still risk for an NFL suspension in response to his recent probation violation. Reid mentioned that Rice has been able to rehab in jail while maintaining contact with Chiefs head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder, per Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com.

Head coach Andy Reid said that Rice (concussion) won't participate in Tuesday's practice, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Rice hasn't practiced in any fashion since reporting concussion symptoms following Kansas City's Week 15 loss to the Chargers. Given that he's unlikely to clear the five-step concussion protocol prior to Thursday's matchup with the Broncos, Rice looks on track to miss a second straight game.
-
Rice (concussion) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate. Rice entered the concussion protocol last week and hasn't logged any on-field work, real or otherwise, since then. With just three days remaining before Thursday's matchup with the Broncos, he seems like a stretch to gain clearance from an independent neurologist to be able to suit up for Week 17 action. Fellow WR Tyquan Thornton (concussion) also was listed as a DNP on Monday, so the Chiefs' current healthy options at the position are Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Nikko Remigio and Jalen Royals.

Rice (concussion) won't practice Thursday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Rice will sit out a second consecutive practice Thursday, having also missed Wednesday's session after reporting concussion symptoms Monday. To have any chance at clearing the NFL's five-step concussion protocol prior to Sunday's game against the Titans, Rice would have to upgrade to full participation Friday and gain clearance from an independent neurologist, so his chances of suiting up Sunday look slim. Xavier Worthy could work as the top wide receiver for a Chiefs team that has been eliminated from playoff contention and will start Gardner Minshew at quarterback.
