  • Benton (ankle) has been cleared of an injury designation for Monday's tilt against the Dolphins. Benton was limited in practice Friday due to an ankle issue, but he was able to return to full participation Saturday. That clears the way for him to take the field against Miami on Monday Night Football. Benton has yet to miss a regular-season game in his three-year NFL career.

  • Benton (ankle) was a limited participant in Friday's practice, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports. Benton logged a full practice Thursday, so a drop in participation Friday means the nose tackle likely suffered a setback with his ankle injury. The 24-year-old will have one more opportunity to return to full participation in hopes of avoiding an injury designation for Monday night's game against the Dolphins.

  • Benton posted three tackles (one solo) during the Steelers' 34-12 win over the Bengals on Sunday. Benton played a season-low 39 defensive snaps Sunday, but that may have been in part due to the Steelers' large lead late in the fourth quarter. The third-year defensive tackle is up to 29 tackles (14 solo), including 4.5 sacks, through 10 regular-season games.

  • Benton (upper body) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report. The third-year defensive lineman dealt with an upper-body issue late last month, but Benton appears to be past it and should be good to go for Sunday's Week 1 opener against the Jets. Benton appeared in all 17 regular-season games last season, making 14 starts, logging 36 tackles (16 solo), including 1.0 sacks, six pass breakups, including one interception, and one fumble recovery.
